How to keep kerbals out of mischief -Swing and seesaw-

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I grew tired of my Kerbals creating havoc around the KSC on their days off so I put together and nice safe and gentle activity for them using my new micro hinge.

Valentina seems to think its boring unless she is going 360 on the swing!

this is another nice example of what you can do with the thermometer micro hinge. Have fun!

Thanks all!

I eagerly await the download for that rover.

Also how reliable are those hinges?

They are hard to work with. For the tasks I used them for they are great though, if made properly and tested. The door for the HAB in particular, will not break under normal use, ie, as intended. But the tolerances are absolutely tiny so it can be frustrating. I think I have them mastered now though.

They cannot take much weight or work vertically so as bearings for powered objects or larger craft they are too weak. But they are the smallest possible hinge in the game and when coupled with the no offset mod you can do some pretty impressive things. I love trying to make things smaller and more elegant.

I have a few more ideas for these things too.

OOH yes the rover. Room for 8 Kerbals, four internal four external seats. I will wait for the new wheel physics though before releasing any more rovers.

That's so cute! I take it you read Eve: order zero? I was just thinking of building something like this.

Cheers matey. Nope not a reader of fiction. Philosophy is the closest I get to fiction.

Well, now you can! the termo hinge is worth learning as it's the smallest possible hinge in the game. There are a lot of applications.

The current E:O0 thread title: "Eve: Order Zero" -- a KSP Graphic Novel (Ch9p25: Sorry, didn't have time to build them a swingset.)

Thanks all!

Thermometer hinges are extraordinarily hard to make, if anyone has any questions just PM me.

Maybe check the distances/orientation angles by opening up the craft file in a text editor and come up with a formula lol.

I had half a thought to make a swing on the arch on the moon using an asteroid claw to attach it so seeing as yours are so well made and I'm lazy I'll give the suggestion to you ;-)

I will post a quick tutorial, once you know how to do it it's easier to reproduce.

lol turned out better than I expected dude. also music is a nice touch.

can you do some videos of payloads being unfolded after being stored in a fairing? would love to see stock craft being neatly assembled in orbit this way. also a functioning stock centrifuge in orbit would be cool too.

I can do both those things. I will try a mini rotating ring, or rotating ship part. The other one may take time to make folding payloads. It can be done but is limited by the size of the smallest part that can connect and disconnect, the small docking port. A folding satellite will be possible so I will get to it!

Thanks for the kind works matey.
