What if Real Life was like Kerbal Space Program?

Sure.

You would be able to live for an indefinite length regardless of food and water income, could survive falls from any heights by landing on your head.

However, the planet would be quite small, so overpopulating it would be a problem.

No, the only building on the planet would be a space center, and nobody is ever actually generated unless they're on a craft of some sort. Of course everyone would want to be flying all the time so we would either have to create laws for only having a certain number of Humans in action at a time or spread them out across the solar system far enough out that they don't lag too much from their density. Map view would lag a lot though, unless we had a giant super-mothership which would hold us all, then that would just crash the game from the part count.

Also, planets would be made of a giant hard ball which contains a singularity in the center. That's my understanding of the in-game gravity, and pondering it led me to realise that the path of something in the air *is* a parabola, and not just a segment of an ellipse because the parts of the Earth that aren't quite in the middle have mass too.

Trajectory of something in the air greatly depends on its aerodynamics so it's pointless to even consider air resistance in a general case.

That being said, ballistic trajectory is eliptical. Parabolic trajectory implies escape velocity.

Shell theorem states that shell and sphere shaped masses can be replaced by point masses.

Flunked an algebra test? Girlfriend broke up with you? Forgot to pay your electricity bill? Microwave exploded?

OR ALL OF THE ABOVE AT THE SAME TIME? (sorry, I had a really rough week.....)

No problem! Just hit F9 and go back to your life's last quicksave.

On some days I think it would require a save from when I was ten years old really ...

  • 4 weeks later...

We will develop advanced technologies in the form of mods, but we are creating so much new stuff that time is slowing down. Legend says that we will experience a 'memory leak.' When this 'memory leak' happens, the world ends. That is until our overlord restarts the world.

We'd be all dead or mutated because of rockets dropping hypergolic (LF+O =~ Aerozine50+NTO) or nuclear stages from space.

The fall of mankind would have led to the disparition of all cities on the planet, and the survivors would have mutated in grotesque small green creatures with irremediable damages to their mental capacities... Wait what ?

I heard you want to build a skyscraper, eh?

Good luck, your building's enormous part count will make your life much enjoyable by rendering 10 frames per second.

Actual explosives would not exist, only fuel tanks and kinetic impactors.

Militaries don't exist.

The only thing that mankind believe in is space, and space exploration.

Yeah......that means there's a bunch of fun things that no longer exist. Beer doesn't exist......and dance clubs don't exist.......and actual snacks don't exist (there's compartments LABELLED "snacks" in the IVA's, but those are just graphics and there are NO ACTUAL SNACKS!)......no cars, no movies, no comic books, no music CD's, no cell phones, no computer games, no chat foru----

1. Then the scary part of wars wouldn't be the deaths, it would be the extreme lag spike due to so many airplanes, troops, tanks and all kinds of physics happening all at once during a battle.

2. We would somehow be able to invent a motorized wheel, but a bearing would be much harder.

3. Complexity = Flammability.

4. Life would be much easier since one could quicksave and quickload.

5. Fairing separation from a rocket would cause a chaotic debris shower.

6. Somehow, we manage to invent a reliable rocket engine and a pod that could house a Kerbal in space and ground as well as have a very reliable reaction wheel system before knowing what wheels are.

7. Space suits were made before structural panels. What?

8. Crew morale wouldn't be a thing. Great! No emotions to deal with, other than courage and stupidity!
