Has anyone else drawn parallels between Kerbals and Minions?

Now before people come in and saying that they hate the Minions to death, I just wanna have a discussion on their similarities. For those who don't know, I suppose this thread won't make a whole lot of sense, but the Minions are little yellow creatures from the Despicable Me series of animated movies. 

Ever since I've both seen the movies and played KSP, it's interesting to see how similar the two little things really are. Both very small, both cutesy, both having low intelligence but somehow having the skills to build rockets, and a seemingly endless supply of nearly identical individuals. Add that, plus the made-up languages they both use, and their premise seems incredibly similar apart from the Minion's genetic need to be enslaved to a powerful being.

Has anyone else ever noted anything like this?

As I explained to my daughter - some of the minions left their home planet of Kerbin, got lost in space, and landed on Earth. And as we now know from Minion history (The Minion Movie), they've been here ever since, always lending a hand when we can't get things quite right...

Well the  "I'm not out to conquer the galaxy.... I swear..." looks as reliable as "democratic people republic" in the first place

Plants are green (And Kerbals are green) And Minions are yellow (And the sun is Yellow), and without the Sun, plants die, Wait... where was I going with this?

The sun is yellow, and it works because of fusion. Minions are yellow, therefore they work because of fusion. Plants need fusion to survive, because the Sun makes light with fusion. Therefore, plants need minions to survive. Kerbals are green, therefore they are plants, therefore Kerbals need minions to survive.

Plants are, as you say, green. Minions are, as you say, yellow. Therefore there is no similarity between plants and minions. See? That works out fine.

Kerbals are not stupid. They're just over-eager. That said, there's definitely some similarities, but not enough to make me suggest that one stole from the other. The Little Green (or yellow I guess) Man is a trope that dates back to the 50s.

As only one Kerbal can be active at once - the one, possessed by its Master (the player), then...

Also there are immortal Chosen: Val, Jeb, Bob, Bill.
They wear orange robes, rather than usual white robes: as a sigil of their spiritual force, rather than others' innocence...
