Kartoffelkuchen
Seems like the people here in Germany can also watch the launch live on YouTube. They already "announced" the stream on YT.
Elthy
Livestreaming on youtube didnt work before in germany (copyright stuff), sure its different this time?
YoetoJoe
so will either nasatv or spacex.com be covering the launch? I hope we get the same "hud" we had on crs-7.
Kartoffelkuchen
Yes, seems to be so @Elthy @YoetoJoe nasa won't stream I guess, they have nothing to do with that mission. It will be streamed on apacex.com though as usual.
Mitchz95
Falcon 9 upgrades and a landing attempt on their return to flight ... this one is going to be a nail-biter.

B787_300
I am worried that it will be a bit too windy for launch (and Landing). But hopefully if they do launch it will land safely and then Blue Origin will not look that amazing (they are but suborbital is a lot less impressive than an orbital rocket)

I'd be surprised if they just left it standing until they could get it horizontal.
Wingman703
I highly doubt anything short of gale force winds could just 'blow over' a rocket. They are not exactly light, wet or dry, and the cross section is quite narrow and aerodynamic. Edited December 20, 2015 by Wingman703

Kartoffelkuchen
And remember, it's center of mass will be pretty low anyway. The wind would have to be really strong to make it fall over, so it's very unlikely I guess. And yeah, page 100!
sgt_flyer
guess that if it's windy enough to topple the booster, it would also exceed wind requirements for a standard launch too, which would scrub the launch (and as there's only a few minutes between launch and RTLS, the weather conditions until a crew can secure tge booster should not evolve that drastically (not without meteorologists predicting such a large change in wind speed for the hour following the launch)

AngelLestat
Today at 8pm in cape canaveral there will be winds of 48kmh at surface level, 20kmh at 5500m and 60kmh (in similar rocket direction) at 10000m. So I think there is not trouble due wind. http://earth.nullschool.net/#2015/12/21/0000Z/wind/isobaric/1000hPa/orthographic=-79.29,24.14,2048/loc=-79.760,25.
Kerbal01
Weather is 90%, according to 45th wing (the people that run the range). That's really high, I only remember one launch where it has been that high or higher. Then again, there could be a errant boat or sudden thunderstorm. KerbonautInTraining
Question: How far from the launch pad is the landing pad? It would be so awesome if there was a static camera that could see the rocket go up and back down. I'm really hoping they have the same (or better) quality live stream they had for CRS-7. Kartoffelkuchen
6h to livestream start. And yeah, for me the launch is at 2.29am. Edited December 20, 2015 by Kartoffelkuchen
Wingman703
Its not far, I think less then 2-3 miles from each other. I think launch is something like 2 miles from obs bay, landing is 5miles from obs bay? Kerbal01
The landing pad LZ-1 (the former LC-13) is located about 9 miles away from SLC-40. The landing will probably not be streamed, but some photographer might make a super long exposure photo to do what you describe.
