I'd have to become a renegade starship captain in Star Trek.

You know, there's no garuantee that if I said "Star Trek Original Series" that I'd be Kirk or Spock or whatever, I might end up a redshirt or blasted in my bartending job by an angry Kilingon.

 

I'd have to say - I'd like to wake up in the middle of the "Golden Age" that preceded the "Age of Strife" which preceded the war-torn Warhammer 40K universe.

The golden age was several millenia of technological perfection, post-scarcity, we dominated the galaxy. No scary Chaos monsters, no Tyranids, what aliens there were were mercilessly exterminated. Sure, maybe a few thousand years after I die of old age, mankind goes to heck, but what do i care? My house is a hollowed out mountain and I have a pet battle-titan. I assume.

ooh I skipped ahead and didn't read the "villain" part.

Lets say the same thing but Im a dictatorial planetary governor. I keep the people down, but not so down that they fancy messing with my pet

Oh, no, it definitely has to be the infinite improbability drive. No doubt about it. If you are going to violate all the known laws of physics the IID is they way to go. I don't have to spend 3years crossing the galaxy stopping to get food and fight aliens when i can just have a wierd thought and be on the otherside of the universe. You can have betasid in every galaxy.
