Does anyone have a Blocked Wheels fix?

Does anyone have a Blocked Wheels fix? Its rather annoying and seems like a 'BOOOOOO!!' system to implement as it broke all of my rovers and 90% of my current rovers get blocked by kraken magic when nothing is in the way or it hits the ground too hard. I haven't even bothered building any in like a month they're so useless. Is there a magical setting somewhere maybe in the persistent file? Maybe a mod that disables it?

It is definitely frustrating.  I spent a lot of time investigating, while making a fuel truck with the ruggedized rover wheels that could roll in and out of a Mk3 cargo bay ramp.  That meant playing very delicately with clipping the wheels.

Basically the wheels have an oversized collider mesh around them, rather larger than the visible model.  It extends maybe 30% farther than the wheel in the radial direction.  It accounts for the space needed for the wheel to turn and move, plus some extra.  It also has some extra space in the axial dimension, though not as much, perhaps 15%.

If the wheels are reporting blocked, they are too close to nearby parts, or themselves.  The only solution is to iterate slowly, one variable at a time.  And for god's sake - DO NOT use the snap to grid setting at any time during this process.  It will undo all your careful work snapping back to the grid.

Unfortunately there's nothing you can do for your existing rovers.

The wheel colliders do extend beyond their visual appearance in the editors. This is, I assume, owing to the need for them to turn and have vertical travel on the suspensions (it`s actually possible to block an unblocked wheel, or the reverse, with particularly large suspension movements). A lot of fiddling with the offset tool is needed to keep various fiddly bits on the rover from extending into that area.

I`ve found a very simple and reasonably compact chassis for the Ruggedized wheels that will fit cleanly into a Mk 3 bay, though, allowing for the rovers to dock and undock from their transport vehicle indefinitely.

Obviously, this is the stripped down version -- I add masts for solar panels, science modules, strap batteries to the underside of the central platform, etc -- but people can customize it to their needs.

Great idea, thanks for sharing!
