Bug Hunting Contest!

Hello everyone!

Are you playing the 1.2 pre-release? Do you want to help us crush those puny bugs and get the chance to name an in-game Kerbal or Waypoint while doing so? Of course you do, who wouldn't?!

During the past Squadcast we announced the Bug Hunting Contest and it consists of the following:

  • Participants just need to make quality bug reports on the pre-release project on KSP’s Bug Tracker.

  • The QA team will nominate some 'bug report finalists' based on the relevance of the bug and quality of the report.

  •  Once a week, we will announce at least one winner at the beginning of SquadCast (Thursdays - 22:00 UTC at KSPTV).

  • The winner will be able to add a name to a kerbal or waypoint random name generator, subject to our approval

  • Every bug report made during the pre-release phase of the 1.2 Update will be taken into consideration for the contest (sept 13th. - TBA)

We will also have a special reward* for the Ultimate Bug Hunter, who will be announced at  the end of the contest.

Let the hunt begin! Start finding those bugs and putting your best reports on the tracker!

Good luck!

- The KSP Dev Team

*Shippings are limited to Shapeways’ Serviceable Countries list.

"Is this going to be a stand up fight, or just another bug hunt, sir?"

All we know is that there's still no contact with the tracker and that a kraken may be involved.

Can we replicate or clarify substandard reports, or do they have to be whole new ones?

Unfortunately, there is no lack of bugs in KSP, so there will be enough for anyone to hunt them and participate in contest :)

Jokes aside, I realy hope that you will not restrict public test phase to only 2 weeks. There is dedicated community around KSP project to find all those nasty bugs and provide quality feedback. Sure, there is some noise generated from time to time, but moer often community discover proper source of bug.

Bottom line is, don't restrict public test phase to limited time frame. Prolonge it as much is needed to solve all of critical bugs at least. By critical, i mean bugs that cause CTDs, then serious FPS slowdown and also those that makes things does not work as intended (wheels are obvious example).
There are also good feedback on new KerbNet feature introduced by KSP 1.2. that will allow you to fine tune everything prior final release.

Oh rats, I really want one of those little stargazers to go with my other shapeways model. I may have to start up a new game just to join in the bug hunting!  :D

Wait, a bug hunting...   ...contest?

An official bug hunting competition? With prizes!?

Come along Sebastion...

...lets find some bugs!

And I think Sebastian should get some sort of honorable mention just because it's so KSP!  :D

has this been done before in a major update?? sounds pretty good, let's go hunting for pokemon bugs!!

A minor semantic nitpick.

1.2 isn't a 'major' update, that's left for 2.0

But as far my tests has gone by it's a brilliant update, even if I'll have trouble winning any bug hunt test, since the RC's works to good for me.

Actually installed Ubuntu on a spare laptop and installed KSP-linux to find more bugs, but I've failed so far :/
