Unfortunately, for a segment of the boostback one engine was out, once and for all proving the Raptor's unreliability

Interestingly enough, that engine succesfully relit for the landing burn.

They seem to have lost the ship which is… uh not good.

I think you are probably correct, hope not

You almost have to trigger it on loss of signal, right? Otherwise it could come down whole in Africa or something?

Yeah.  The only good stream I've found is Ellie in Space.  Who else is streaming?

I've always loved Tim Dodd. Switched over to that. I should check Ellie out.

I watch the real stream, all other patter is garbage.

Hmm, maybe they accidentally borrowed a few faulty Cybertruck motors from Austin? There was a Cybertruck that blew up in Las Vegas.

I noticed a small section of starship's skin had peeled away and was flapping during ascent. You can see it on the very left of the video after liftoff. I wouldn't be surprised if loss of pressurization and supersonic air entering the vehicle caused the failure.

Edit: I rewatched the clip and you can see the steel pull apart starting 35 seconds after lift off.

I’ve been very happy with the direct SpaceX feeds from SpaceX.com.  Straight to the point.  And usually a few seconds ahead

They did lost one center engine at T+7:41, next center one at T+8:02 and the vacuum inbetween previous at T+8:04. Now Methan tank is rapidly depleting. I doubt that many engines failed in this clustering, probably rather fuel feed.

Most interesting is how long the ship kept going with this asymetric thrust. I would have expected FTS to trigger earlier.

It’s possible one engine did a RUD, damaging the methane line/tank and starving the other engines
