I bet you all can't guess the insanely probable and unique thing that is happening! ...There's a launch and I'm in school. GASP what a surprise That sucks though. It's like SpaceX and the weather are keeping track of your schedule. Am I assuming correctly that the orbital prototype should be full length, and look more like Starship than what we have now? Delay
Why is their launch window an instantaneous one? I don't get why they only have a second-long window.

The payload is part of the huge Iridium network, which has a pretty low orbit. My guess is that the deployment needs to be exact since the 10 individual sats won’t have much dV for orbit correction. RealKerbal3x
Missed the liftoff, but at least I caught the booster landing. Flawless as always! Now the second stage coasts, and we wait for the satellites to be deployed.
tater
Any of you with clear skies in Europe might pay attention to the coverage, the S2 burn in a little over 30 minutes might well put on a show for you. Hard to guestimate where the pass will be, but should be on coverage map in a short while. A friend said they said Africa... I missed that. My YT was acting up a couple times, and I missed them saying where the S2 burn will be. A friend I texted said he thought he heard them say Africa (unsure if that was the burn, or deployment, though).

I think Africa is the burn, because that's when they said they'll resume webcast commentary. It'll be flying northward. Delay
No, that is the S2 burn. Though there is about 19° or so of leeway, so it could be visible. Edited January 11, 2019 by Delay

tater
Burn looks like neat Madagascar (again, eyeballing). Also, I forgot Iridium was so much higher than ISS when I was guestimating time.
Delay
I think it might be a bit too far to the east to be seen from Europe.

Ultimate Steve
Okay, disregard my delta-v estimates for the hopper. So if this is right then it's not just the header tanks, and probably no header tanks. The bottom section is cryogen-tight... If only the bottom section is cryogen tight, but is utilized up until the part that was initially shiny, then that's like 1/3 of a fuel load, multiple kilometers per second of delta-V. tater
A recap of something, and how it relates to "Elon Time." 5 weeks and 5 days later: To be fair, he posted pics of it under construction around Xmas as well (just a couple weeks after he said 4 weeks). He's not said "2019" for an actual spacecraft test article, he's said June. I'm betting they hit that, or come pretty close. This could prove to be a very interesting year in spaceflight.
