[1.4.5] Legacy Variants

Legacy Variants adds back the old fuel tanks as variant parts, I've also added the Mk1-2 pod as a variant of the M1-3 pod. I'm planning to add decouplers in later releases.

I see you've chosen MIT for your license, that's great. Would you mind also stating that in the OP for this thread, please? I think that's the only thing you need to be in line with our Add-on posting rules

Would it be possible to use it to swap models of engines and include Porkjet's Legacy? -->

It takes advantage of the games variant mechanic.  Yes, it could be used to add Porkjets old parts as variants,  I guess I'll get to that next.

The legacy variants are still usable, you just need to use the advanced filters. (is that what they're called?)

They’re still in the game for now, but when they’re removed this mod will be good for nostalgia.

Well, only with permission from Squad, because otherwise that would be redistributing KSP assets, which the license of KSP does not allow. So let's hope those parts are kept in the game

EDIT: I assume the mod is using those legacy parts that are still in the game. If it actually has the parts in the download, that would unfortunately not be ok.

If squad ever does decided to get ride of the old parts, hopefully they will only remove the config files and not the models so the mod can still access them.

Why 

GameData\KSC\Parts\LegacyVariants\

instead of just 

GameData\LegacyVariants\

?

 

Also in the spacedock downloads there are temp save files from your text editor: .tanks.cfg~, .pods.cfg~, etc

Actually i PREFER the Vendor / Mod folder structure, and wish that all Mod makers used this.

Kerbal Space Command is a good role model here.

Ha,  yes I put all the mods I make under KSC directory.  Oh,  I didn't realize the backup files where included.  the dot in front means they are hidden files on linux.

A few more models were updated in 1.5-.1.6.1 

Want to throw in legacy versions of those.  I bet the one people would want the most is the legacy poodle. 

BTW, since you don't have a thread for your 6 crew patches, I'll ask it here.  Could you make a 6 crew or 8 crew patch for the Hitchiker Containment module and a 3 crew or 4 crew patch for the lander can.
