Steam Awards forgets about Take Two?

I don’t know, but I think a lot of the categories should have KSP winning the awards: game of the year, labor of love, best environment, and of course most fun with a machine. I may be a bit biased in this though... it’s the only game I play from steam, other than rocket league

lol. Im a tad biased too...i was just blown away that Space Engineers was in the most fun with a machine category..yet ksp was absent. Aside from Rocket League and Space Engineers...I haven't even heard about the others..."Euro Truck Simulator"?? REALLY?! Thats on the list but not a game about building rockets/rovers, planes and pretty much anything you could think of??...."pttthhh" I say!!

@klesh lol..thats pretty neat. It would be great 'free?' marketing for sure.

Really. I have 500 hours in ksp and only 300 in ets. And based on steam stats, much more people play ets2, at any given time. And mind you - a lot of people play ksp outside steam. Only you can guess why simple, straightforward truck driving game has more players than complex space simulation with learning wall everyone have to climb to actually play it. And with all the controversy about take two, eula, gdpr, and all that, it all acts against the game.

Plus, I hope I don't even have to say it, it's the players who nominated these games. It's not like valve had something to do with that.

KSP aint' no spring chicken anymore.

I'm gonna say barring some huge DLC or update, her award winning days are most likely behind her.

Not saying it's dead, just that it's not new enough to garner the spotlight anymore. It's become a very mature and established game which isn't terribly exciting award material.

Euro Truck Simulator 2 is a 2012 game, so KSP is hardly past-it.  Of course there is an almost constant flow of paid-for DLC for that game (mainly paint-jobs).  Space Engineers is originally from 2013, still in Early Access and complete pants as a simulator of just about anything.  It's sci-fi Minecraft.

(Yes, I have them all.  KSP ~4,000hrs, ETS 2hrs, ETS 2 5hrs, SE 5hrs)

If it's not age is it just that KSP isn't getting the new players or that we're all less excited about it now?

Or rather, constant flow of (yes, paid, but people are more than willing to pay for that, while we know what part of the community here said about MH, lemme paraphrase "MEH not gonna pay for few parts and mission builder I will never use, I have my mods that are better") map expansions that are about to cover the whole Europe at some point in the future, and also new additions to game mechanics... Paintjobs are just something the art team is working on in their free time, so.. SCS while being a small studio, have given into that game more new content and care than SQUAD since official release in 2015, IMHO. Which again confirms my previous post - ETS is much simpler game, easy to understand, thus, is gaining more players every year.

You said you have 5 hours in ETS, that's barely enough to do anything except few deliveries, so maybe it's not for you? Or you just began?  Doesn't matter, it's just that some choose one over another and there is nothing wrong with it. In that case, there is probably for sure more people that play ETS than KSP.

I'm starting to repeat myself, stop me.

Interesting points fellas...maybe yall are right and I just take ksp for more credit than its actual worth at the moment. I just have so much fun playing it and in the day of early release and lack of QA..i think squad does a pretty good job with updates and bug squashing. Ive only been here since 1.3 but in that time..its gone through many revisions already! Unfortunately we as a community have grown into perfectionists lol. But at the same time...most posts I see on update discussion threads are almost always positive and encouraging.

This is one of the best game communities ive ever had the pleasure to being involved in so it strikes me a bit sour to think ksp isnt award winning capable anymore. Its nothing but an uphill battle..but the higher you get the better the game becomes. Squad released a console version not too long ago. I hope that grows interest in the game sonthat perhaps next year or year after ill see ksp on the voting ballots.

Had ETS 2 more than two years but, yeah, just bounced off it and never felt the need to go back.  It's even the only game I have on Steam for which I've disabled updates because of the constant downloads of there-but-locked paintjobs and similar DLC.

Thing is, I like KSP because it takes a lot of thinking about.  When I want to chill and do (almost) nothing I go to Farming Simulator or Sailaway, so ETS/2 has no particular appeal for me.  Of all those games/simulators though I'm sure ETS/2 is the most popular.

Lets see... Game of the year? Totally, but not really elegible since 1.0. Labor of love? That was before Take2over.  Best environment? If I really thought so, KSP would not be elegible since what, 0.19? And most fun with the machine? Yes, KSP could be kinda contentender here if kOS got integrated into stock with a side dish of 0x10c. But as far as The Machine is concerned, IMO nothing comes anywhere close to Factorio, not by far.

Steam Awards Voting..."Most Fun with a Machine"

Space Engineers is there...what about KSP?? How does a game even become eligible for such an award? Hard to imagine with as great as this community is that ksp wouldn't make the cut for that category..

Since it's all about player votes, I'd say that the public opinion has spoken, plain and simple. KSP has entered Steam awards before, so it's not like this community doesn't 'do Steam'. They've just not voted for KSP this time. We can all have opinions about why that is, and no doubt it will be hotly debated, but bottom line KSP has only itself to blame for not being up there this time.

On the other hand: I have looked at the games that ended up on the different categories, and mostly just shook my head and shrugged at most of the nominations. GTAV for Labor of Love? Seriously? So, maybe we should be glad KSP didn't get named alongside... other games.
