About Edberry Kerman, I'm not going to kill that little green fella, I'm surprised the F-5 is hardly damaged but blew up the whole runway.

I hope he survives walking all the way back to the KSC. ^_^

The whole runway blew up ?!?  Whoa....  And the aircraft just lost its underslung cargo pod and flipped over....  KK stuff is that fragile ?!?

If you actually walk Edberry all the way back, across that mountain range to the west of KSC, that might be even more awesome.  Very boring and long, but awesome. :)

O yeah, that came through my mind aswell.

I could let him walk when I'm AFK having something holding down the "w" key.

If he starts walking now he might have a chance to get a lift from the truck that is still out there. ;)

Time to move on:

That looks cool, the front looks like a jeep.

What's the specs ?

Does it run on LF only ?

Yep. LF / Fuel cells with some solar to help with some of the peak consumption.

14 tonnes total weight
10 wheels, 6x6 rear drive.
Top speed (runway) 41 m/s

Don't you need oxidizer for the fuelcells ?

Edit, my specs (excl. solar panels)

Depends on the fuel cell. These ones (came with @blackheart612 's mod Grounded) just use LF and atmosphere. Not as jammy as the SQUAD ones and they are a bit larger, but I save some weight not carrying Oxidizer.

I'd say take B.

There's also the mod Wwwwwwwww, although Edberry's bound to fall in a crevasse or somesuch.  BTW, are you using any mods?

And I stumbled upon a namesake for you :)

Spoiler

Good question, mods I use:

- KIS - For the inventory

- KAS - For refueling

- Kerbal Konstructs - For building the bridges

- Kerbin Side - For the bridge parts

- Wheelsounds - To make driving not so quitely boring

*Kerbal Hacks - For the sunglasses, but I can't get them on somehow...

I used to breed Triops, shrimps and Carnivorous plants. ^_^

Okay, I ditched the Fuel cells and solar panels, and went with a KF APU.

-Burns LF
-charges batteries
-throttle varies automatically depending on load and battery charge.

It's as close to a real diesel-electric I can get in KSP.

A or B ?

Route A. Smoother but a bit longer. Better chance for success.

I can see you are serious about this, you can catch up with me easily.

You should keep a journal, I'd love to follow that.

This one is for you, @Triop: the Acme Drop Tank:

ZwdzNmO.png

It features:

  • 535 kallons of LF
  • 165 OX
  • 2 chutes for the paradrop
  • a HORZ claw for docking thirsty rovers
  • a VERT claw for distressed aircraft of any size to 'kneel' on via retraction of the nose-wheel

All-up weight is 4.5t and may be more aerodynamic flown with the HORZ claw open.

I stacked an FL-T100 under the VERT claw to a) fill the gap under the claw and b) provide a stable base for the tank resting on the ground so that it doesn't roll over; however, the VERT claw may need to be clipped downward somewhat to provide adequate clearance for very small aircraft (which have the option also of trying the HORZ claw).

I put an EVA seat on it to provide a very cheap probe control (i.e. a Kerbal) to open the claws, but that will probably eventually work out to be a nuisance for refueling probes.  And if your stranded vehicle is totally out of fuel and unable to maneuver to the Acme drop tank, then the Chrysalis device is the next best bet.

That's genius, and STOCK.

I can definatly see me use that in upcoming missions.

But for now I'm using a small droptank.

Rolas Kerman is going to do a testdrop in her K-18.

We want to drop near the bridge.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand the pylon was attached wrong and is now stuck on the tank.

Yeah, that didn't end well....

Doing a fly by near Jeb on the way back.

Luckely Rolas knows how to land. ^_^

We'll have to try again...

Maiden flight drop test: SUCCES !

You might want to roll out a test rover to that dropped tank to be sure you can transfer.  Be painful to find that there's a glitch when you're dropping out in the wilds. :)

Yeah, I also found out the dropped tank dissapeared after I recovered the cargo jet.

So I think I can only use it when the cargo jet is parked somewhere because the game thinks it's one craft.

We will test it as we go, there's always time for plan B, green, other left, some solution I guess . . .

DAY 4

Now I'm an extremely slow player, it might look like we have been driving for days, but in fact we've only spend 3 hours and 38 minutes in the game.
