Amazing stuff Triop, I wonder, do you sometimes launch stuff in space or just driving around^^ ? :sticktongue:

I do some space stuff, I designed a small SSTO once ^_^

I can land and leave Mun and Minmus, without F-5 saving that is. (most people who know me know I hate saving in this game)

I promise I will go into space as soon as I'm bored with Kerbin, but there is so much fun to have on this small planet it might take a while.

Couple of suggestions.  Keep posting good pictures in the "What did you do in KSP today?" (which I've seen you've done), good as in "interesting". :)  As well, I see that your signature is partly cut off on my 1080p screen.  The links still work but the cuttoff graphic draws less attention.  Perhaps a coloured quote like "I'm driving a rover around Kerbin in 80 days.  Despite breakdowns and crashes and the odd driving off cliffs and bridges."

Thanks, I'd like to promote this more, but I don't want to clutter the wdydiksptd thread with me spamming this event all the time.

I think people who like this will find this thread sooner or later, I'm happy if 1 person follows my adventure.

The reason I'm blogging this is; why else be stupid enough to drive around Kerbin for days if nobody knows you are doing it.

I leave you guys with a small tour around the new found base.

A good sentiment.  Perhaps post each day's most...interesting photo or two to spark interest.

Cool!  Is that stock or did you set it up with Kerbal Konstructs?

It's part of KK (KerbinSide), it's one of the standard bases I guess.

I've hidden them in the tracking station when starting this new save and forgot about them.

It was a total surprise for me too, but a welcome one. ^_^

I can get around the world in under TWO HOURS without leaving the atmosphere. Below is a picture of the Nye Jr, a supersonic jet with PLENTY of fuel and electric charge - and impressive heat resistance.

To be honest, I saw a jet like this on the internet and decided to give it a try building it. I had no idea at the time how awesome flying this thing is. Either way, this bad boy's got what it takes when it comes to global circumnavigation.

Nice, now build a manned rover and drive it around Kerbin. ^_^

I think we old timers were doing a circumnavigation by air in around 37 minutes.

But two hours isn't bad.

Replace this map in the KerbalKonstructs directory, you also need to have KerbinSide.

Bridges don't show up on the map, so you have to fly/vesselmove there to see if it works.

I'm getting it downloaded and the dependancies. Thanks!

Should be interesting, especially to see how long the fuel cells and fuel will last.

For me I can't complain about the fuel consumption, it's doing surprisingly well as you can see in my pictures.

If I knew this before I wouldn't have done the pole2pole solar only.

For peeps that missed that:

So you're not going with the radioisotope thermal-electric generators, like on the Temple Expedition rover?

Nah, I didn't even completed that challenge, besides, the radiation makes you yellow . . .

I always imagined half-way across, the ferry broke into song....

Spoiler

And Jeb can't be afraid of a little bit of radioactivity.... :)

Seriously, RTEGs didn't work out in rover design?

It works fine, but a little overpowered for me.

...overpowered.... O.o

What does such a word even mean to a Kerbal ?!?  Except to add moar payload maybe....  Spoilers to stay on the ground....  Trailer to pull....

LOL!  In reality, how was running on nukes?  Just a touch too fast to control?

Well we do have something @Triop that requires the engine unit to have at least 1 battery and liquid fuel, if the batteries flat you cant start the engine,  if  you run out of fuel the engine will stop,  it was made for the AI tanks, that  for better gameplay are just shells into which  you have  to put  all the running gear it needs,  its plugin based, and supplies EC to keep the battery full on demand,, there's no direct link with the throttle though , it s auto,  i get the feeling you want  a throttle under yer foot,  I'll dig out one of the little engines and see if I cant wiggle a cfg that'll drive the stock wheels and give you some feeling of being in charge :)

Are we talking about the same thing ?

I've used the radioisotope thermal-electric generators to keep my batteries full for that mission, and they did.

But It never made me go faster.

Thanks, would love to test some of your work.

I need to get rid of batteries . . .

Ah, enlightenment dawns....

Last questions, but it's about both the RTEGs and your current fuel cells.  How deep does the charge dip with both of them while you're running?  Could one or the other run continously or do both have to stop to recharge the batteries?  And how often do you think you'll have to refuel the current rover?

EDIT

Cool!  Smaller battery in the boot to make room for the engine?

Ok, Edberry Kermin is on the runway as we speak in the F-5.

kXQRFAx.png

We've loaded up some suplies and attached a droptank to refuel the buggy.

I said I would send Val, but she is still in the truck with Bill.

Glad to see this expedition is starting to reach the standard set by the previous ones. :)

Maybe you could use a larger aircraft to paradrop resupply to the rover?

I like the paradrop idea, didn't think of that but I can indeed drop fueltanks with parachutes for refueling the buggy.

I think we will continue our drive without shades or fuel, we have lots of fuel left (and my game crashed when I selected the sunglasses, so no shades for Jeb for now).

About Edberry Kerman, I'm not going to kill that little green fella, I'm surprised the F-5 is hardly damaged but blew up the whole runway.

I hope he survives walking all the way back to the KSC. ^_^
