What are Squad's plans for KSP1 down the line?

This is a question directed at the Squad staff.  Likely there is not a concrete answer yet, and perhaps you could not publicly answer if there was.  But I am curious as to where you see KSP1 in 5 years?  How do you folks see yourselves co-existing with the new kid on the block?

The DLC and the new update tells me there is a still a lot of life left.  What are future plans to keep KSP1 relevant and sustainable?

It will definitely end at some point, I'd say version 1.9 or 2.0. Games don't usually have updates after their sequel comes out.

Yeah, I have a hard time seeing the business case for maintaining a game when a sequel designed to supplant it exists.

Almost be better business to develop DLC to the new game engine.
