Did fairing textures changed?

It looks like the exact same texture, so the question is was the texture unintentionally warped in all the old versions and therefore this is the correct version, or is the current version a bug that is causing the texture to not be warped?

If the texture was previously warped, why was it only warped around the edges of the model? The rest of it didn't look warped at all.

The texture itself is undistorted.

...\GameData\Squad\Parts\Aero\fairings\FairingBase.dds

I think it's intentional for the 'Kerbal hazard stripes' look that defined the old stock aesthetic.

It's also easier to draw a seamless texture to wrap around a 3D model if you draw straight lines. It can be distorted later during mapping.

It also saves resources, allowing a single texture to be used on various models with different diameter-height ratios (which alot of older parts have) while retaining the same degree of slant for the lines... but, as you can see in Geonovast's image, someone didn't do a good job of that (again, probably intentionally because Kerbals or something).
