Has anyone built a Saturn V for sharing?

Recommended Posts

Apols if this is not the right place for this, but I know some players share rockets they've built and I wondered if anyone knew of a Saturn V I can download?

I realise that Kerbal is smaller than the Earth so I guess it would be a bit too powerful but it would be kinda fun to play with.

Thanks

There are 2 kinds: Those that use DLC (namely MH, but possibly BG), and those that are vanilla. Unfortunately, both of My Saturn V require DLC.

I have no idea what any of those abbreviations mean, I'm afraid.

There are 2 DLC released for KSP:

  • MH = Making History, the first DLC. Contains 5m parts that allow Low-part-count builds of SaturnV/Apollo with accurate aesthetic
  • BG = Braking Ground, the second DLC. Contain motor parts

Due to there are DLC, there are no concerns whether an update to base game will break them, unlike mods such as Inferno Robotics (mod analogue to Breaking Ground) or BlueDog Design Bureau (mod analogue to making History that even I must admit is much better)

Vanilla = no DLC guarnteed. Stock can mean either Base Game with any DLC, or no DLC

what does DLC mean? Is this a type of mod of the game? Do I need to buy these,, or are they free?

DLC = downloadable content. They're paid addon packs made by the developers. They're sort of like mods but they're officially supported and you have to pay for them.

I don't think it's fair to compare BDB and MH. They both have recreations of historical spacecraft, but they go about it in different ways. I already said something to this effect in the 1.10 ESA update thread, so I'll repost it here.

Quote

[...] it'll probably be similar to the way BDB and the Making History DLC coexist. MH adds Saturn V parts, but you're not just limited to making a Saturn V with them; BDB also has Saturn V parts, but they're more realistic (unlike the 'Kerbalised' style of the MH parts) and they're more like a model kit than the LEGO set of the MH parts.

IMO, comparing MH and BDB is like comparing a box of assorted LEGOs and a detailed model kit. They're very different.
