Project Vanguard: Circumnavigating the Mun by land.

My attempt to drive all the way across the Mun. I don't expect it to be easy, but i'll get a cool signature badge. 

I decided to do this, but @Jack Joseph Kerman's thread on his attempt made me decide to to a mission report. I was actually doing the mission for a couple of days before I saw that.

Landing Site/Start of mission is roughly 6 Lat, Long -12.

I shall be covering this mission in "Legs", which are 5 flags spaced 4 Kilometers apart.

that's some seriously oversized rover there.

do you use the internal perspective from the cupola when driving? my long distance rovers all include a good cockpit view, because shifting from internal to external perspective helps keeping things fresh.

Occasionally, but I mainly use the external view.

As @king of nowhere said, the size of that rover is impressive.  I’m also fascinated by your take on a ‘sky crane’ deployment.   Great screenshots, and it looked like the deployment went very smoothly.  Although I could be wrong about that..

Not sure how far you’re going, but if you go all the way around Mun, I hope you drop an entry to the Elcano challenge!

About 30 meters per second, or 65 miles per hour. On flat-ish terrain anyways. Does have a hard time on slopes.
