Insect samples for kids digital microscope.

It's going to be an Xmas prezzi for a 9yo.

 

I'd like to accompany it with some preserved/pinned samples of exotic creepy crawlies of appropriate size, say between 5mm and 20mm.

 

Please could someone direct me to an online shop that can provide such samples? Preferably not chinese.

 

I have rejected the slide collections available on Amazon. They provide no scale information, only show backlit examples (this microscope has no back light), and could be too small for this microscope. It's claim of 1000x magnification is a typical chinese overestimate.

Two companies come to mind: celestron and highpoint scientific. Both offer a range of microscopes and assorted accessories. Hope that helps

Well, since you went with Amazon, I had a similar experience for a 7 year old where I got a number of remade sample slides for the microscope off of amazon too.   Just search there for exactly what you are looking for, you might be able to find some.

been thinking of getting a usb microscope to make it easier to solder small components. i cant read the print on the chips any more, makes me wish id have gone with the bifocals.

as for the samples, just have the kids catch their own bugs. or go to the pet store and buy some feeder crickets.

A piece of old junkfood, a muddy pool of water, and a pet with fleas provide an inquisitive naturalist with a lot of advanced samples for free.

Also, fiber structures like hair, fur, steel needle do.

And the flower inner parts.

I Have nothing against Chinese people. I just keep getting poor quality stuff from them. And I think their dictator is a poo.

i actually have a collection of us made components that is disturbingly vintage.
