The UI in general seems weirdly scaled in both directions

Recommended Posts

While stuff like the part action manager has big buttons, largeish font, and lots of margins and borders taking up half the vertical space (as well as the collapsed tabs), stuff like the translate/rotate widget in the VAB and the maneuver node widget are small and fiddly.

The menus like the part manager could definitely use smaller fonts and be more compact.

That said, given how the part manager works now, where every part seems to be in there, its going to be extremely unwieldy to use when you have a massive vehicle. Perhaps the KSP1-styled context menu could be used for commonly used part functions, for instance enabling/disabling yaw/pitch/roll, switching engine modes, turning engines on/off, etc while lesser used things like the angle of deployment of control surfaces etc could be kept in there. This would further streamline the part manager.

Players have to be able to see everything from a couch distance when playing on console. Keep this in mind.

It’s not out on console.    This is a PC game.

When the console version is eventually released, it will get optimized for them then.

Unless I am missing something. The game is out right now for PS5 and XB: Series X. Still not an excuse for not adding a simple UI scaler to the game... like KSP 1 had in 2014.

You are missing something, it’s only out on PC.   Even Linux users didn’t get a dedicated version.    And UI scaling came very late in the development of KSP.   They’ll get there.

menus should not be as big as they are at 4k. the text in the staging section seems perfectly readable. i like the big numbers in the nav ball and on the burn time widget. but that parts manager, which will contain a large amount of information, needs to be a lot slimmer.
