[WIP] Old school NASA-style Probe Control Room IVA

This is the coolest mod ever and is really helping learn how to use real world astronaut navigation tools and have lots of fun doing it. Please keep up the amazing work, also I'm not sure if anyone else has posted this but after the seat up and down update the maneuver panels buttons seem to have disappeared on my end. Not sure if anyone has the same bug, but I don't have any logs because it doesn't crash the game.

Thanks a lot ! Happy you enjoy it. :) You're missing MirageDev props dependency for the maneuver planner, it's not throwing errors because it's KSP's behavior when props are missing, it just doesn't load them and doesn't complain : )

Hi @kurgut, currently enjoying your mod a lot! 

 

I've seen on your youtube series that you're working on a KV-2 Making History Pod IVA analog  Retro as well to release in the near future, just wanted to point out how important this step is for retro-iva lovers: 

Currently we have:

- Retro Mercury (Warbirds IVA)

- Retro Gemini (Lonesome Robots)

- Retro Apollo (MOARdV Plus/ROCapsule/DE_IVA/Max-KSP MAS IVA)

- Retro LEM (MOARdV/ROCapsule/Max-KSP MAS IVA)

- Retro Probe Control Room (yours!)

- Retro Shuttle (Kermantech/UltimateShuttleIVA)

 

who's missing the party? A proper retro Sojuz :)  is the only missing pod for the retro-IVAs space nerd community as far as i know (if you know of any retro sojuz full working IVA, please let us know!)

Your work with the KV-2  could fill the gap and make KSP a total immersive 60's space simulator, with proper green heads

This is amazing! I've tried what I think to be every probe control room IVA out there and this has the most attention to detail out of any of them! Great work :)

I've noticed an incompatibility with USI mods, presumably the life support one. When loading into the IVA, the message "jsinumericinput initialization error" appears on screen, and I've experienced lag / hard crashes afterwards on occasion. Id upload my log but concerningly it's several hundred MB in size, possibly from the other mods I have installed. Any chance this will get USI support if it doesn't already?

This looks awesome but how do I exit the control room and go back to normal KSP?

Update:  Went on Discord and found out "C" exits the control room back to normal KSP.

Is there a list of the key functions anywhere that tells how to switch positions and such?   The first time I entered it... it was all zoomed in and I couldn't see what was what right at a critical moment so I didn't want to press too many keys and lose my mission.

Haha no idea, but co op in mission control, or in a spacecraft would be pretty sick ^^

Hi and thanks, I'll look into it, shouldn't be hard. As for the errors, you can try reproducing it in a low mod count install, and if it still occurs, and can fill an issue on github. :)

Hmm, maybe the KSP settings but anyway : C to enter/exit IVA mode, V to swicth between seats, middle mouse button to zoom.

Yeah I'll release the KV2 at some point, I'm just finishing Gemini first.

Also, that's your lucky day, almost nobody knows about this work, but Raidernick actually made beautiful and functionial IVAs in his Soviet Spacecraft mod (that I might refurbish one day, we'll see ^^)  : ) Enjoy !

Does it pick up for the RP-1 procedural avionics? I've always had trouble using any stock probe cores in RP-1 and could never get a Control Room to show for RP-1 avionics.

I use the science core probe.  Not the procedural avionics core.  If you want both so you have control of the probe that works as well.

That makes sense, I've stacked the avionics with other probe cores before (for the looks), would be worth doing to get the Control Room IVA on a controlled probe.

Messed with Vulcans fork of this mod and got it working with RSS. Full vector maps for all the planets and moons with live tracking on the dot board and trajectory display. Also the controls for the two side screens are on the desk instead of being giant knobs on the wall.

Hi @kurgut, I’m having trouble getting the mod to work. I only see the default probe room controls and things. If you have some time could you look at my logs? I’m not sure what dependency I could be missing?

I've tried two versions of probe room control. Something in the logs says it can’t find probe room control? I think.
