Make Minmus Green Again

Recommended Posts

Not Really a "Bug" but I think many players would like Minmus to take back its more green flavour than what is currently offered.
It often looks very "washed out" and could do with some additional saturation.

Why?

Also, have you been on the Mun? It's not depressing gray. Have you been on Eve? It's not purple. Have you been on Dres? It's no longer depressing gray either. Things have changed.

This was done on purpose for the sake of realism. I personally think it looks much nicer and less gaudy.

I think there was a quote about not quoting "realism" in a game with little green aliens in it ;)

I really like the realism they’re doing with it being a ceramic moon, but man I hate the colour. It can still be minty green while being made out of glass. Now it’s a dull grey rock that I don’t enjoy visiting anymore

Not only this, but  Jool's texture needs to be completely re-worked. As it is it has no individuality and just looks like Jupiter with a green filter.

In KSP1 it was Neptune with a green filter, minus the "great blue spot."

Jupiter - and Jool2 - is prettier.

Define "individuality" in the context of a bunch of clouds.

"Individuality" as in it doesn't look like its own planet but rather Jupiter with a green filter

Can you explain what that looks like then?

Like something made by an artist or graphic designer who put more effort into their work than just slapping a green filter over Jupiter

Give me an example of that then instead of going back to the same lazy analogy. "Green filter over Jupiter" is meaningless until you explain why Jool having a lot of cloud bands is bad.

I'm not an artist or graphic designer, but I'm sure there's tens, maybe even dozens of people out there who could craft a more creative texture than what's currently in the game

Thanks for the fascinating and intellectually stimulating conversation! I'm sure you're a blast to talk to at parties!

Perhaps put it into words because "Jupiter with green" doesn't get us any closer to knowing what you are getting at. Don't all  gas giants look like Jupiter or Saturn by that logic?

I think Jool looks amazing. Took a ton of screenshots on my last mission there. I think Minmum and Mun being somewhat plain is a good, realistic introduction and it makes the later planets and moons that much more enticing to explore as they have more distinct appearances. Pol is significantly more appealing for me to return to than Mun or Minmus and this encourages overcoming the challenges of returning there rather than lazily doing my nth mun landing.

I have some bad news for you... But that's exactly what Jool is going for. And I personally love it's new look.

I like what they did with the planets and moons. They all look way better and realistic now. People who want the exact same planets as in KSP1, should play KSP1 or wait for a mod in my opinion.

I am kinda disappointed for that there are no outer planets (makes system feel a bit unfinished). But interstellar will give us a lot of crazy placed to explore

it's also realistically possible to have a greener minmus, like you know duna being red because of iron oxides maybe minmus can be green from copper oxides even though that may be far fetched (but come on look at jool and eve)
