Ok, secondly: Um... i was de-orbiting a used and empty crew transfer craft when everything over heated and went BOOM. I had yet to decouple the fuel and engine to present the shield, but, once the engine went, it tumbled. only thing to survive, waited till it hit the deck at 80m/s! heres the pic of a lonely heat shield coming down.
