unpluggedlamp
small question: will it be possible to add a modification to the stock shielded docking port to be compatible with starliner and its IVA?

Modifying the stock dockingport is most definetly out of scope, but if i may ask, what's stopping it from working?

It's just kind of frustrating to have to deal with several docking ports. Makes it harder to build stations and all.

Try the mod Extra Docking Ports. It has a compact port that is fully compatible with the stock 1.25m port, but omits the bulky collar. It will likely fit inside the Starliner parachute ring and beneath the hinged cover. Use the VAB offset tool to adjust the port's height if needed. BCS has 2 different chute covers, a version with the integrated nose fairing, and one with a 1.25m attachment node, the shielded one should fit on there quite well. I swear they had the translation and pointing segments on the crew display too but I don't recall off hand.
