Scarecrow71
This isn't a welcome post; it is a good bye post. For the last 10 years, I have put up with harassment, cajoling, condescension, beratement, and general mistreatment from the entire community. For some reason, this entire community has felt the need to make me feel horrible and unwanted. This is the only community I am part of that has done this. I know - look in the mirror. Well, if this is the only community doing this to me, then that mirror must be pointed right back at the lot of you. It started the very first day I joined. I got the game, had an issue, had to ask. And less than an hour later, I had a mod accuse me of being a second account for someone else because they had the same problem. Imagine that! Because, you know, nobody has the same problem someone else may be having. Since then, it has all been downhill. I ask a question, and I'm either told I'm stupid OR I'm told to shut up. And if I complain to the mods, I get ignored. If I respond to posts, my posts get removed by the mods but the inciting posts directed at me are left up for everyone to see. I get abused, and it is somehow OK for that to happen. Summer of 2023 saw me take a ridiculous amount of abuse over KSP2 and my opinions of the game. Multiple people were downright rude and out of bounds, but their behavior was allowed to stand. It got so bad that I threatened legal action, at which point I got banned. You read that right - i gor banned for standing yo for myself. I fought the mods, the admins, the CMs, and eventually went to TTs legal department to get the ban lifted. I fought like hell to be here, only for the horrible treatment to continue. It finally hit a head that I can no longer ignore. I decided I was going to try modding the game, but ran into a problem I cannot solve. I downloaded the API and couldn't find the answer. I asked in multiple spots here, but decided to ask on discord. I got directed to Kopernicus, which I downloaded and couldn't figure out the source code. I asked on the modding discord, and not only did my question get ignored, I got accused of not asking a direct question. Then another user stepped in and told me, and I quote, "Wr are expert programmers here" and insinuated that i should leave. I needed help and not only got refused, but all but explicitly told to leave. Then I come back here and see that what i want to do is already contained in another mod - and to be clear, I don't care because I wanted to keen how to do this - and that I shouldn't bother. 10 years I have put up with this mistreatment. No more. NO. MORE. I am done. I am tired of asking questions and being put down for it. I am tired of some members of this community being allowed to be mean to others with zero repercussions. And I am sick of people being rude to others simply for having a difference of opinion or for being new. Sick. To that end, I'm leaving. Done. I will not partake in this forum any longer. I shouldn't be made to feel stupid, or put down, or that I am not important enough to try something simply because I have questions. I have stated before that I am tired of being attacked here only to be told to shut up and put the victim card away. I have better things to do than to interact with people who don't want me here anyhow. Congratulations; you have successfully pushed another long-standing member away. Not that anyone will see this; the mods will almost surely delete the post immediately without even trying to reach out to get to the root of the problem, thus further proving my point. So long, and thanks for nothing.
Mr. Kerbin
Oh. well, one member read this at least. i’m sorry As a Kopernicus coder- we’re definitely not experts. That’s really weird as the ENTIRE POINT of the Kop discord is to learn. Goodbye, and I hope you do good in whatever is next for you. We’ll miss you. Lisias
I'm moving the discussion to this thread to prevent polluting Kopernicus thread. Additionally, I didn't found a reason to create yet a new rant thread, so I took the liberty to use this one as the subjects are, indeed, related. 4 hours ago, R-T-B said: Also don't take this the wrong way as the Kopernocus discord experience you got is largely lacking moderation (and for that I do apologize) but a ton of us are just hobbyists working on this stuff between job hours. Time is at a premium. And this is the reason Discord is a horribly mistake. I'm pretty sure you remember how a few amazing persons "welcomed" you when you first tried something around here - from that times to nowadays, we had some improvements on Forum, and to be absolutely frankly (but not necessarily correct), perhaps due the failure of KSP2 someone in a position of charge finally took notice of the Forum problems that I'm absolutely sure were merely a reflection of the internal company ones. Or the other way around, someone took notice of the internal company problems and by side effect, Forum improved: troublesome people leaves, things start to get better by itself - experience taught me. In a way or another, I'm reasonably confident that the troublesome people that left Forum ended going to somewhere else, and it looks like Discord was the place. You may want to reconsider your affiliations, if this is bothering you.

ColdJ
@Scarecrow71 Seriously sad to read this and I will miss you. I know the attitudes you mention and have hit them myself.. That is why I started threads to help people with the little I know. I hope you never felt that I treated you badly in any way. R-T-B
9 hours ago, Lisias said: You may want to reconsider your affiliations, if this is bothering you. I'm sorry, is that a reply to me? Because I have always preferred forums as a format. Discord isn't all bad, but it does have its limitations. Kopernicus discord in particular, lost a few moderators recently and is for lack of a better term, quite filled with younger people (like sub-16 years old isn't uncommon). This is inherently going to make it rather "interesting" as a help channel. My advice for serious help is to post here on the forums, yeah. You can try the discord, but a big caveat emptor applies. PS: My avatar may be me mocking my own discord server... yes. Edited March 20 by R-T-B

timmy kerman
I’ve seen you around. I have two things to say: 1. This should never have gotten to this extent. You should not have to leave - and also, you should not use the kopernicus discord server. But… 2. You did from what I see have a tendency to… speak your mind. So I can see why you would have been attacked for it. So that’s what I have to say here.
RileyHef
If I had a nickel for every time Scarecrow71 made a dramatic post about leaving the KSP forums forever, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.

lajoswinkler
Discord? Nomen est omen. I made an account there only because of necessity, but after that was gone, I abandoned it. It is a horrible, chaotic place that breeds outrage and fights. Like Vine, Reddit, 4chan and Tiktok, it's one of the cesspools of Internet. I had noticed that some Users don't have the "last visited" data in their profiles, perhaps it would be a good idea to ask a moderator to set it up for you, as I didn't found a setting to do that anywhere on my profile and settings page. DaveT319
I've been on many message boards over the years, and I've seen many many posts where someone dramatically and emphatically says they're leaving, and the reasons for doing so. I've even done it myself many years ago. The thing is, do you think you're going to change things as you're walking out the door? That people will see the error of their ways and make wholesale changes to their behavior because you couldn't tolerate it anymore? No, of course not. The people who rubbed you the wrong way don't care, and they won't change. Your best bet is to either ignore those people, block them (not sure if that's on option here; I haven't been here for very long yet), or just simply leave and only tell the people you like that you are leaving. Public proclamations like this are ultimately fruitless, and even look silly if at some point down the road you revisit the site after declaring you were leaving forever Just my 2 cents (worth even less these days due to inflation)

ColdJ
Look. The poster was obviously upset when they posted this thread. They had a very bad experience, the type that many of us have had when we ask a simple question and get treated as if we are morons, while none of the people attacking bother to answer the question. In hindsight I am guessing that they wished they had just withdrawn quietly. So what exactly are you gaining by by monitoring their activity and telling them they have done this before? It doesn't make things better, it just makes you sound childish and bullying. Remember we are members of this forum because it is far better and more civilised than the alternatives. Please don't perpetuate the attitudes of those bad forums, here, in what should be a safe space.
HebaruSan
For what it's worth, I find that it's generally more worthwhile to concentrate on what effect I'm having on other people than to ruminate on how I think they've affected me. If nothing else, the former is much less frustrating since my own actions are among the things I can actually control.
