It would be really helpful if you would do the following:

  1. Recompile against 1.0.5, just to be sure nothing funny happens
  2. Update the version number

Right now, because nothing was done, CKAN thinks it's not compatible with 1.0.5

I didn't even know Select Root was around since the whole implementation into the base game but wouldn't you know, it is!  I don't think I need the functionality it provides so probably just wait for this one to get updated vanilla or keep using it until it breaks.  But thanks for the effort!

FWIW, I had the exact same question and concern. But I went to the new thread and found this helpful bit, so I'm at least open minded!

Squad added a root part selection mode to stock. But it's a bit awkward to use. This plugin fixes the following things:

  • Only one click needed. Just click on the part you want to be the new root.
  • Works if you're already hovering the new part. No more mouse wiggling to get the selection to register.

Select Root Usage: Enter root selection mode and click on the new root part. Root selection mode is one of the buttons on top next to the rotate and offset gizmos. Or just press 4

Well, I did the same research but to me it doesn't seem to 'fix' anything other that a minor awkwardness I'm completely accustomed to and don't mind.  The only thing I could consider of minor use is the 'drops the new root' part, but that seems like a heck of a chance to take on the possibility it might cause other issues elsewhere.  Perhaps not; perhaps I'm just paranoid.  Still, since the old version seems to work okay, the new version doesn't fix any bugs, and the addition of another bit of functionality I'm not necessarily keen on means I might adopt it eventually but for right now I'd rather wait and see if someone else will do the same thing without merging it with another mod.

I don't see it in CKAN, just the Redux version:

I'm new to EE and CKAN, so sorry if I missed something. Is the vanilla version supposed to be available in CKAN?

the redux version is a continuation of this that also adds a select root fix ,the thread can be found here

I've started working on it, I've got it partially working in 1.1 so far, so hopefully I should have an update by the weekend.
