The only criticism I have is that the wings seem a bit large. Other than that, the aircraft is spectacular!

Welcome to a new way of space travelling. Welcome to the new Golden Age of extraplanetary exploration. Welcome to Project Orion, the most accurate space vessel ever done.

MAIN DESCRIPTION

Our engineers in Dieguscus.Corp have managed to make one of the most precise, well-crafted and engineered ship kerbalkind has ever achieved.

Project Orion is based on its real world counterpart, the Orion MPCV, which will carry astronauts to the future planned missions of the NASA space agency. Project Orion is mostly made-up of two major parts: the crew module, which will contain the crew and all the life-support , and the service module, which acts as the propulsion system of the vessel.

This propulsion system consits of one LV-T45 engine which serves as the main engine of the ship and a set a four auxiliary LV-1R liquid engines for extra movility. Is also equiped with the latest RCS thruster technology for efficiency and precision control in zero gravity.

Also equipped with action groups:

  • Press 1 to toggle both OX-4L 1x6 Photovoltaic Panels, Comms DTS-M1 long-range communication antenna and deactivate torque of the MK1-2 Command Pod.
  • Press 2 to activate/deactivate the main LV-T45 liquid engine.
  • Press 3 to activate/deactivate the LV-R1 engines.

ADDITIONAL SPECS

  • Total cost: 65,530Cr.
  • Total mass: 17,345Kg.
  • ISP value: 363s.
  • Amount of thrust: 216kN.
  • Total amount of DELTA-V: 2,202m/s.

Once your mission is done and you are on a low Kerbin orbit, the Crew Module will detach from the Service Module and will carry safely the crew to land.

Unfortunatelly we have not developed a reliable launch system that could bring Project Orion beyond Kerbin, but I'm sure each consumer will manage to do one of them (specially with the new SLS parts).

Originally Project Orion was built because of the non-accurate Orion MPCV ships. If you share my dream of bringing some vehicle to the kerbals that could transport them safely beyond Kerbin don't doubt, download now and enjoy several missions with it and its crew.

I made a replica of the Swordfish from Cowboy Bebop-snip-

I assume it doesn't fly in the atmosphere, based on the flaps on the back, but it's still awesome.

A bit of constructive criticism: perhaps replace the little flaps on the wings with pylons (the ones that detatch), and then mount the little flaps on it.

It looks like the swordfish has longer side panels (on the wings), so perhaps that would work.

On a completely different note, wow, I did not expect to have this thread reach this size! Keep the crafts coming, guys!

It's sad how this thread is dying. It was very fun to see what people build and learn technics from that. I will try to keep more crafts coming.

I have a small contribution to add, a Republic F-84E Thunderjet I whipped up. Constructive criticism is welcome.

What can I say, the back to back cockpits is genius by the strictest definition!

I wish I could contribute something but the replica's I made are already in this thread (compare my swordfish, I think the nose is a tad to long :P )...

Edit: Except there is one that isn't I think... Here goes:

This is a replica of the not very well known because proposed but never actually built Blohm & Voss BV P.111 asymmetric flying boat.

It's not a very nice replica, because it was really hard to balance and because it is way to curvy with all those bubble turrets :P

It's stock + Firespitter prop engines.

As far as I remember it flew quite agreeable considering how it looks, landing in water was not a problem. Landing on land is impossible, as is taking off from water. Initial take off is accomplished with some sort of wheel assembly that can be decoupled. It might be possible to fix take off from water by abusing radial intakes. I discovered that they make the best floats a while after this was built...

This is my first attempt at a replica build. It's a Sikorsky S-43, commonly used as an island hopper for Pan-Am. It uses all stock parts. It, like it's real world counterpart, can land in water. Unfortunately, it can't take off once it's landed.

The other thread about the Ho 229 inspired me, built one myself!

Not stock this time, almost completely made from B9 parts and clipping like a maniac. Check out the intakes :P

The fuel tank wings don't wing so I clipped some wings into them. And then some more to make it look right. And then some to make it fly right. Ran outta space after that....

It likes to completely obliterate itself on take of... after that it sort of flies fine. As in there is a chance you'll live...

Edit: that is with FAR (who installs B9 without FAR anyways?)

She flies, bombs, and lands like a dream. Nothing I could do about the pit, the Peacemaker had a VERY unique glass nose that is pretty much impossible to replicate save for custom modeling one, which I don't have the first clue about doing.

I'd suggest attaching a cluster of rotated Mk2 pits with Cubics to an upside-down Firespitter B-17 'pit (make sure the Mk2s are sticking out of the top near the front) so that each 'pit is next to each other and clipping so that they appear to be one whole pit. It eliminates that ugly Flying Fortress 'pit which ruins everything, and it looks a lot closer. :wink:
