I love the mod, Just one

very minor request/thought:

The game seems to gauge your lifesupport by your total capacity, but I find that sometimes, for short missions I don't fully stock the containers, on the principal of, why pay for a full tank of lifesupport if you're not going to need it. However, the lifesupport mod starts yelling at me that my food water oxygen is low, even if I have plenty for my one Kerbal for a month. It just thinks I have a problem, because the total percentage of the container is empty. Would it be possible to set it up to gauge the state of your crafts lifesupport based on the quantity of food, water, oxygen you start with?

As, I said, very minor thing, somewhere down the road-ish.

I had the same problem, and it was caused by a mod, in my case, an outdated version of "Tac Life Retexture", so i suggest you delete US_Core and US_KAS folders if you have them. Otherwise i can only suggest to empty your game-data folder (except squad and mod-manager.dll), put TAC, test it, and then add mods one by one testing each time and find the faulty mod.

us_core and us_kas has nothing to do with tac right now. ive had them installed since .23 and no problems from them. he oprobaly applying to many modules to his command pod or using a outofdate mod.

I keep forgetting that this is a thing. I've done quite a few EVAs and I never thought about it. From now on until TAC Life Support manages to support this I'll just use the TAC Fuel Balancer to dump monopropellant

Monoprop is quite often quite toxic (Hydrazine), I doubt anyone would want that stuff on or anywhere near their suit. You'd probably want to use a compressed inert gas like Nitrogen or CO2. It'd be a neat mechanic to take waste CO2 and compress it down into EVAPropellant for Kerbals to use. That would be difficult for me though since I usually have ways of getting rid of waste products. Perhaps a priority system or something.

Well, i assumed that it was kas retexture but i was wrong, it's universal storage. However, like it or not, US_Core and US_KAS folder were the source of my problems witch are the same as described earlier.

Of course the same problem does not automatically mean the same cause, but it seems fair to me to try without it before going through the tedious process of testing each mod separately.

At least we now know that this mod can potentially mess things up.

Sorry about that, here is a link to the full output_log.

The problem seems to be connected to 64 bit though, as 32 bit runs fine.

I'll see if it's a mod conflict too and update this post when I get back from that.

EDIT: Yep, looks like it is a mod, here's the stock x64 version's output_log, no crashes.

Monoprop is quite often quite toxic (Hydrazine), I doubt anyone would want that stuff on or anywhere near their suit. You'd probably want to use a compressed inert gas like Nitrogen or CO2. It'd be a neat mechanic to take waste CO2 and compress it down into EVAPropellant for Kerbals to use. That would be difficult for me though since I usually have ways of getting rid of waste products. Perhaps a priority system or something.

True, but I don't deal with actual propellant types. I don't use RealFuels or anything like that. So, for me, monopropellant is just "monopropellant" and is used by RCS and Kerbals

...I think you're misreading the numbers. Both the Food and Water consumption rates have "E-05" at the end on the right - that means the visible number is multiplied by (10 to the power of the E-number). It's a common programming variation on standard scientific notation.

Excuse me, i have a question regarding EVA. If this was already answered, please direct me to the post, as i was unable to find it.

As soon as i exit my ship on EVA, i get message, that all my resources are depleted, and kerbal has only EVA propellant on him.

Is there any fix to that?

Hello,

I tried this mod and so far it locked nice, but it seems to mainly boils down to adding some additional weight to the ships and then you don't need to thing about is much more (as long as no permanent settlement is desired). I wonder how useful it would be to add some additional requirements to consider their living space, too. I came up with this ideas:

I did not misread them, the whole number value is still one liter of food per second eaten, or two liters of water consumed per second since that is what LS was changed to. Just like the kerbals are producing almost 8 times the waste (Assuming it is poop) as they are consuming. I tested this with a launch and indeed a full 1.25m can of food was gone in less then five minutes of launching. Something that should last much longer.

These are the default values, so I can only assume this is a bug. So I would much like to know the intended values so I can correct them to be more inline with the other consumption and production rates.

There seems to be a conflict between TAC life support and interstellar when using karbonite

It seems to be related to ORS being unable to recognize TAC resources when using the version packaged with Interstellar. This causes resources not to be used when using interstellar and when you add karbonite a flood of errors brings your fps to 1-3 for any ship that contains TAC resources

@SyberSmoke If you are speaking about default TAC, 1.25m container has like 200 days of stuff for 1 kerbal for me. Not sure about the exact amount, but two of these is enough for me to forget about resupplying one-kerbal station for a long time.

us_core and us_kas has nothing to do with tac right now. ive had them installed since .23 and no problems from them. he oprobaly applying to many modules to his command pod or using a outofdate mod.

Not entirely true - older versions of us_core and us_kas used a resource definition which conflicted with TAC-LS. Paul Kingtinger released an updated version which does not conflict, but if one is using an older version, the conflict may still exist.

Edit: Specifically, what I am saying is that some older versions of Universal Storage *will* conflict with pre-release 0.9 versions of TAC-LS. Depending on one's upgrade path with both mods, you may or may not see issues. The current versions of both mods no longer conflict.

This is the interesting part as when I used it, they burned through the can as I entered orbit. So is this some of that 64bit strangeness...or do I just need to move the decimal point and lose the useless decimal accuracy (really it is a game, we do not need precision to the trillionth of a decimal). I can appreciate the accuracy, but it makes reading the numbers difficult.

Note, if this was working properly in my case. A command pod should have plenty of food and water. BUT, if I send a ship out with only the pod, the values shown result in the pod being out of food and water. So those values are not working as intended from all tests I have done.

I'd vote for 64bit strangeness. I've been using 9pre4 since it came out for a wide variety of craft and EVAs and it's been working as advertised… on 32bit.

Another thing is, try removing the TAC folder completely and reinstall - some people have had issues with old TAC v8 files not being completely removed.

Though the numbers in the spreadsheet should be roughly 1/2 of the defaults in 0.9. Check your command pods, and make sure they have an equal duration for each resource: Food time == water time == oxygen time. You can use the Build Aid in the VAB or SPH. I am using 0.9pre4.

The mod is being installed using KSPMod Admin, all directories look correct.

The GameData directory was wiped before installing the new version so no folders were left over.

The game does not crash or show any other unexpected behavior then what is described above. That being a resource that should last for days is being devoured in minutes.

Huh...well looks like something got worked out as it is now working properly. I do dislike transient errors. I guess if it happens again I will post logs and such. But with it working properly now would there be a point?

I have gotten this behavior in Windows on both 64 and 32bit versions for KSP, career and sandbox, new and old saves.

The configuration box prompt does not appear at the KSC screen. The build helper also does not appear in the VAB.

This is true regardless of whether toolbar is installed.

The only other mod installed is ModuleManager.2.2.1.dll

Where did you download it? TACLS should not be listed as a "Non-DLL" mod, so it sounds like you are missing the .dll file.
