Wow, you're right. I made that the first mod to remove and UniverseReplacer now works. How did you know? (And how is a plugin for moving Kerbals affecting texture loading?)

Some one said it earlier in the thread.

Its probably the KSP-Addon compatibility bug, which is fixed in Universe Replacer v2.3

I was searching around in the assets and I found this:

3Wy0V.jpg

Anyone have a guess on what it might be?

I would hazard a guess that what you found is an unused kerbal splatter decal. It looks like the sort of thing that should be applied to a spot where a kerbal dies by high speed impact, leaving a splat.

1.The planet textures will cover oceans, making it seem like there is land, but there is just water... you realize that it isn't land when you are in the planets atmosphere, you understand what a bumer it is... I'll give you an example, I retextured Kerbin to look like Earth, but when you look from space America looks like a land, but in the planet's atmosphere there is no land where America is, just water.

2. No, the textures just retexture the planet from space, however it does not effect the surface itself

3.No, if you use you cloud mod you can see the clouds only from space, not from the planet's atmosphere.

Ah, I see, so it's more like Christo visiting the Kerbals and shrouding their planets with a painted canvas pinned some km above ground - still cool though, although it seems like I would want to only use it for Jool (cant land there anyway) and the cloud mod with the original Kerbin (Laythe, Duna, Eve - maybe in appropriate colors?) ground texture.

Or are there any beautified textures for the original planets?

But wow, can this game look good! Got me going for 1.0! ;D

I read about Christo visiting the Kerbals. It's in the Book of Kermon. :P

Seriously, though, I am loving what this mod has done for my game. I've had to leave out planets I won't be getting to any time soon, but Apatheticjester's lovely skybox and 5thmushroom's cloudy Kerbin make my local "neighborhood" look so beautiful. I might install new skins for Mün and Minmus, but I'm running up against that wall where KSP crashes when one's mod folder gets too big... so I've had to be economical in what I use.

The pack by mushroomman has matching clouds and ground textures, so basically you won't land in water if there isn't water somewhere in that texture ;p though naturally the clouds make it a bit more difficult to see, which is pretty much why moving clouds would be awesome, and maybe even clouds that we can vary so that they have random weather patterns and densities...

Anyhow... There isn't much possibility to "beautify" the original planets... we'd have to increase texture resolutions drastically in order to get real improvement and the way planet textures work in KSP it's just not gonna happen ,p Although if someone has it, I'd take a 16k * 8k kerbin texture with clouds assuming it's "really" that res, and not upscaled.

Something I am surprised nobody mentioned yet is of course, night illumination, tis still missing for true "perfection" for kerbin

More like this Christo.

But you gave me a hearty silent internal laugh - leaving office now. :)

And: Do the Textures really count against the mod-memory-limit? Arent they simply loaded and dumped into the video RAM?

So, KSP finally getting its blood patch?

I think it looks more like the stock texture for Jool, but if it were applied with the center on the North pole.

All textures share the same system memory, regardless of if they're from a mod or not.

You shouldn't get out of memory issues - all tho I didn't look at what format the texture packs are in, but convert them into PNG's if they are TGA's for example. Or if you need even smaller file sizes, use JPEG's - but read up on that here, and read the 'Update'.

So is anyone taking the challenge? a 16384x8192 Kerbin texture, with clouds? ;) Yes yes, it's gonna be huge and nearly nobody will be able to use it.. but.. it'd be awesome for orbits around Kerbin ;P No more blur! *assuming it actually works in KSP*

What say the professional planet artist we have here? Possible?

is it possible to change the textures of the Kerbals space suits to the black ones seen in Kerbalizer? or is that something yet to be added to this mod?

v2.3 will support Kerbal suits and faces. Also a new feature that will allow various faces - working on it in this moment.

Awesome! :D

also, just a though that's crossed my mind; would it be possible to make animated cloud textures? would they even work with this mod?

Glad you enjoyed it. I'm familiar with the artist, but couldn't resist the messianic humor.

Well, what I'm saying is, my GameData folder is pretty big already - pushing 1.5-1.6GB with all the mods and plugins I use. So it doesn't really matter that the stuff I've put into Universe Replacer isn't "that big", relatively speaking - using Dreamscape (~10MB) and the Cloud Pack (~95MB) is over 100MB of stuff that loads with the game. And if this pushes my total memory size of mods past the amount that KSP can handle, it crashes. In an otherwise un-modded game, this would work fine and be a welcome addition. But when it comes down to trimming things, I have to get rid of a lot of stuff that would be nice to have, but not often used or seen. So for now, I've got the lovely skybox and the cloudy Kerbin and I'll hopefully have space to add skins for Mün and Minmus - but I just don't have the room for the lovely cloudscape of Laythe or Jool, for instance.

It's not at all a criticism of the mod or the artwork - it's all beautiful and I wish the game could handle everything I want to use in it. I realize it's due to the large number of mods and parts I use, which is why I have to sometimes be very choosy.

...awaiting someone to build a mod that converts kerbalizer outputs. :D

If you look back in this thread or view my posts, I wrote something about a cloud feature. Might be a feature for 2.4+.

Will it be possible to make a suit that applies to all eva kerbals?

Replacing the suit will apply to all EVA kerbals, they are all using the same texture? Or am I understanding your question wrong?
