Confuse the Newbs

The cupola is the best cockpit for landers on account of it being all glass instead of metal, which makes it very light.

You never need to use the large landing legs, just use the tiny toothpick legs for everything no matter how heavy.

If you want to save on fuel and so get more DV, add plenty of large monoprop tanks to your ship and just use RCS to do all the manoeuvres, it won't cost you any fuel at all so you'll get amazing DV. Add extra RCS thrusters to give you more thrust.

Due to the puny thrust of the ion engines, you'll need to make ion powered craft very light, so save weight by having no extra batteries and just use one of the single panel solar panels.

I've never heard my career so eloquently described. :)

Hi, Whackjob. See this guy here? He's a master at building stable rockets that are just efficient enough to get into orbit, and that are made of only a few parts. Try his designs: they save lag! :D

e = mc2

Energy always equals mass in tons times curvature, squared. This means that the heavier the ship and the more curved the planet you launch from, the more power!

The Rockomax Mark 55 engine solves all your problems.

The less fuel, the less mass you need to carry into orbit.

Rockets too complicated? You can get into space if you just stack enough of the blue stack separators up. Make sure to spread them out on the lower levels so it's sort of a pyramid. Then you just keep mashing space until you get into space! No throttle needed.

Always restrict the thrust to zero on your engines in the VAB and SPH, or else you'll see an overheating fireworks show.

PS: You can't throttle due to the restrictions of the unity engine. You have to control it by manually opening your computer case and regulating the cpu voltage with a car battery and two jumper wires.

If you want to visit other places on Kerbin, you've probably tried rockets and missed, and tried planes and crashed. KSP's dodgy aerodynamics mean wings actually work better in water, but they break easily if they go through the surface. So the quickest way to explore Kerbin is with a submarine. Just remember you need to transfer water into your tanks to dive; to do this you need a fuel line running from the ballast tank into empty space.

You've probably heard the the aerodynamics model in KSP adds drag for each part, even nose-cones, making them useless. This is absurd. Nose-cones have negative drag, it's just that the game doesn't recognise the - sign as numerical data and omits it from your screen so it looks like they have positive drag. Adding tons of nose-cones all over your ship will make it really efficient. If you add enough you can even get negative drag, causing you to accelerate out of the atmosphere without even turning your engines on.

All engines start in "space mode" when you launch. When starting your ascent to space, make sure you use the "Extra Velocity Activation" button (or EVA for short). This will give your rocket a massive speed boost to help you reach space. Don't activate this on the launch pad, the G-force will make your ship explode. Get your rocket travelling at a few hundred metres per second, then hit EVA. If you see a white blob shoot out the side of your ship, you weren't going fast enough for it to work. Go faster and try again. You get one use for each kerbal you take, so bring plenty of kerbals for maximum speed.

Leaving your kerbals crammed into tiny capsules for long time warps such as on interplanetary transfers, is considered inhumane and will cause your reputation to drop fast. Make sure you turn off time warp and give your poor kerbal a 10 minute EVA to stretch his legs at least once per day.

When you re-enter an atmosphere the flames around your capsule create a huge amount of light and this is the perfect time to open your solar panels and turbo-charge your ship.

Having trouble docking? You're probably not pushing the ports together hard enough, they require a lot of force to mate properly. Get lined up so you just need to move forward to dock, then throttle up your main engines to maximum. You'll be pleasantly surprised at the results!

(Collider1, Extra Velocity Activation is pure evil genius! XD)
