Pet peeves

1. Engines automatically get fairing based on the size of the engine, when it should be more like the size of the decoupler. So my Apollo replica's lander has a bit of 1.25 meter stack inside the mostly 2.5 meter stack, and it looks bad.

2. Rover wheels seem to have really poor traction even taking into account the low gravity of places like the mun. Sometimes it feels more like I'm driving some sort of hovercraft.

having 4 time symmetry ladders because i forgot to turn it off

So. Many. Times.

I agree, that's super annoying.

Something that's been annoying me recently is the docking ports fuel crossfeed toggle is not persistent even though I could have sworn it was in .23 - I have to reset it every time I load a quicksave or the game in general.

The other day I launched a fuel stage for my interplanetary carrier. But when I made the rendezvous, I discovered to my dismay that I'd somehow put the docking port on backwards. I relaunched and made the rendezvous again. Guess what? I'd forgotten to fix the problem. *facepalms*

Just like I tested a Saturn V class rocket, then realized I forgot solar panels along with other things, like the SRB's not actually attaching to the separators, escape tower not jettisoning, etc. Fixed a few things in the VAB and still forgot the panels, after putting 157 tons in orbit. Oh, and I'm reeeeally trying not to revert/quicksave. At least this time I remembered to add 'chutes. RIP Mellan and crew. I tried a powered landing but DRE got me. At least this time I'll have enough power to land. Good thing there are no budgets yet.

Another pet peeve: 2.5m nosecones weigh more than Rockomax adapter + 1.25m nosecone (yup, going FAR)

That's not an especially good reason, because it's entirely possible that you wanted the first press to lower any landing gear that was still up instead. It's also not the reason for this behaviour, because it predates being able to set the starting state of the gear in the VAB. When this bug first appeared, somewhere around .21 I think, landing gear always started raised but you still had to pointlessly press G twice to get it to lower the first time. This is a bug, plain and simple.

Not quite correct, there was still landing gear that started lowered before tweakables. The plane wheels started lowered, so before they changed it, if you had a spaceplane carrying a payload with lander lends, you'd end up with the legs coming down when the wheels came up.

When people call Minmus "Minimus". It really shouldn't bother me as much as it does.

My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions, loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next.

And this is my midget brother Minimus.

It bugs me how the hatch for the MK1-2 capsule is off centered to the left, making things asymmetrical from the "top" where the windows are. And when you click an interface button in the VAB while building, and it selects the part behind it, messing up the craft.

Not to mention the nuke engine fairing is really, really good at taking out monopropellant tanks and batteries I've placed next to the engine on the bottom of my craft.

The fairings really should be sized by the decoupler, and include internal struts - try strutting the Poodle up without making a mess!

1) When people try to force their "Realistic" or "Better" playstyle on others. (Rule of Cool!)

1.5) When people call using certain mods or playstyles cheating. If it's there, and I can use or do it, you can be damn well sure I will, no matter what you say, be it anything from MJ's AP to part clipping.

2) No stock fairings, and no proper drag model. I understand this is kerbal, but it's not like any rocket ever had a valuable payload like the LEM on the outside.

3) Dres. It needs something to it, (Like maybe an asteroid belt.) otherwise it's just Ike over the sun.

- Crew assignments not saving when I go back to the VAB - I have no idea how many times I've launched empty labs or full "rescue ships" to various planets.

- Engine shrouds not matching the decouplers - the Poodle gets a useless little "skirt" that hovers above the spent stage after staging.

- Not being able to move stacks in the staging - I have to click on the stack, then click on one icon to move the whole stack - counterintuitive and annoying.

  • 2 weeks later...

Minor: hitting return when typing in a name for a named save adds a return character to the file name, making it unsaveable, instead of ... saving the game.

Major: The way the target is lost randomly, when docking for example. This has happened when I'm 5 m away from the target ship, moving at 0.2 m/s, lined up straight. It has happened multiple times in a single docking manoeuvre. Why?

I have never, ever had this happen to me, and I dock things most every time I play.

This!

You will have to start spaceplane flight with hitting G twice to raise wheels, but you do not.

And I commonly click G once before liftoff right when going over checklist, and checking that I have landing legs. It will result in me having to press G once when arriving at target.

I hate that too.

And I hate that as well! The fairings really should match the decoupler instead of the engine, in most cases. Or rather, it should match whichever has the larger diameter.

Something I also hate, is when creating action groups in the VAB/SPH, if you select something that was added via symmetry, sometimes it gets all of the items in that set, and other times it gets all but one. I have to go around the entire ship and select all of that same type of item individually to make sure it gets all of them, which defeats the purpose of allowing it to add the symmetry group all at once.

Not just for that reason (but also my own forgetfulness), I wish I could edit action groups in-flight, without having to get a mod for it. Being stuck with what was there at launch, can get annoying.

I have. I don't think it's random though, I think it occurs when I accidentally click in such a way as to unset the target.
