So I read something today talking about the falcon air, a strato launch falcon 9

Yea that got cancelled back in 2012 I believe. Sounded like an interesting consept though. It would have been a Falcon 9 with four Merlins launched from the Stratolaunch carrier aircraft.

For me Lazteks Dragon works in my Savegame (KSP 1.0.4). The only things are the Nodes are not convertet and the Solar-Panel works on the opposite Side of the Service Modul.

For someone with no modding/coding/modeling experience, is that an easy fix for 1.0.5?

Do the grid fins actually function as control surfaces and not just air brakes? Pitch, yaw, roll.

Read a few pages back, Kart has said they only work as airbrakes, w/o control surfaces. Idk how they woud

be both, with out a plugin.

Is anyone who was working on real GSO sat models still working on them? @Tristonwilson12

I went all the way back to the OG2 hype and saw no such post.

Edit: Nevermind I found it back on the 21st of December. Sorry.

But either way... Whats wrong with a plugin? Itd be fantastic for the grid fins to actually function as they should. If it takes another plugin then so be it. Speaking as if by chance Kart knows how to make one.

@Motokid600 Gridfins are only regular airbrakes as DarthVader already mentioned, due to stock limitations. Unfortunately, I have no real knowledge of coding or writing plugibs for KSP, so someone else would need to create one. Also, on a more unrelated note, I figured out that the SpaceX, Falcon 9 logo and america flag are actually on both sides of the rocket! Maybe I'll patch it, it's not that a big change.

I think the Gridfins control pitch and yaw but not roll. However  I never really tested that as I use RCS to control the first stage during coast phases

Technically they do simulate roll through reaction wheels. It's usually frowned upon in the RSS/RO community but it works so I'm not gonna complain. Again, this was explained a couple pages back ;)

I technically kind of knew about that. I was just wondering about the difference between them and the ones from LazTech. I'm not sure if they controlled the vehicle or not but I do know that they had pretty good animations of how they moved.

Extending the legs 20 seconds early slows the velocity pre landing burn by almost 300m/s!

You probably mean the gridfins right? The legs don't really slow you down at all, KSP doesn't simulate drag for animations. But yeah, the fins provide quite a bit of drag, but only because I wanted to have them make at least some sort of impact on the trajectory, for steering purpose.

I really love the 6.4k configs, but is there a way to get them to ignore SMURFF edits? Because they've already been balanced by your patch, anuthing that SMURFF does to them will then ruin the balancing. Any ideas?

Erm, what's SMURFF? :sealed:

Don't worry...I didn't know what it was when someone else suggested it to me :P It's fairly essential to rescale users if you wanna make sane size rockets
