A suggesting regarding having too many teams, mainly for Rowsdower I guess:

Why not let all teams/solo players compete on the first week? If I understood correctly, next weekend we will have the first vote, and one team out of the 4 would be eliminated. Why not just do that with all teams and keep the top 3 for each team (Forum/Reddit)?

That's a brilliant idea, this way at least everyone would to do something. I hope Rowsdower sees it.

I just want to know whether I'm playing or not as I'm not a fan of the system they have in place. Community votes will always be for the most popular people so people like me -new members- won't ever get a real shot at competing.

That stands to reason though. Only a small number of people can compete, so they're going to be selected based on their demonstrated abilities. There's been a bit of time between the announcement and selection for anyone who wants to show off their skills; maybe not enough, but then I'd say the forum teams ought to be made up of people who have a strong record of forum activity.

I actually signed up on Reddit it's hard to keep track of the community on there unless you are like...Scott Manley -harsh example i know- I'd just like to see future tournaments handled a little differently if I'm honest.

You are totally correct, most populars will be picked, that's normal and as cantab said, it's based on demostrated abilities.

Anyway, in our team we are 4 modest youtubers, we are not really known by a lot of people, but to counter that, I made a video featuring some of our work in KSP!, and got featured in the official facebook page. That will help us a lot!, and that could help anyone not known enough. The problem is that there was so little time to do so, and I was lucky to have a free saturday (girlfriend was studying) to make the video.

What I mean is: Yes, will be picked by fame, BUT!, you can increase your chances by making yourself visible and showing what you've got!!

good luck everyone!! :)

I know what I've said can come across as jealousy and hey, maybe in the future we could organise a forum/reddit tournament that isn't official as I've actually got a a lot of experience in tournament making :)

I was talking to m1 earlier on a similar note. Perhaps after 'official' teams are chosen the forum can take the other teams and run a parallel tourney for fun and rep? I know that our team is going to play along even if we aren't chosen, doing so with other teams would make it even more fun.

I can understand why SQUAD wants to narrow it down, but I also like to see everyone compete and have fun... so this is an idea. *shrugs*

That's a great idea, I pledge rep to the winners of the informal side tournament.

Only seems fair, I think most of my rep comes from the proximity of the "Give Rep" button to the "Report Post" button.

I am totally on board with this notion. It would let the community be involved and would overcome some of that exclusion I was on about earlier.

I will also pledge rep if this happens!

Agreed. I'll definitely help set up such a thing if it winds up happening, and/or if the team I'm on (Team Hype Train! All aboard! :D) doesn't get selected for the official competition.

Also, is Scott Manley competing on Reddit, or is he not playing at all? (I'm just surprised he and a few other bigger KSP YouTubers aren't on any of the Forum teams....)

Though Xacktar and his team definetly fill out the YT user category quite well. :)
