  1. 1. Have YOU done a Time-Warp Fail?

    • HELL YEAH! ALL THE TIME.
    • When I get bored (Psycho Laugh)
    • It was once, okay *Sniff OH JEB WHY DID I TIME-WARP!
    • NEVER. I AM PERFECT IN EVERY SHAPE AND FORM!

This happened very recently, I wonder if anyone else had this problem.

Well, here is my story:

My favourite one is when I was building a Duna Mothership around Kerbin (I know, Awesome) I got a bit bored. So I got my final part out of four around kerbin. I'm trying to dock the final part and I was 70km from the rendezvous. So I Time-warp. I didn't time it that well and i approach it REALLY fast. In my panic i stop the time-warp, IN THE MIDDLE OF MY MOTHERSHIP WITH 800+ PARTS THAT TOOK ME FOREVER TO BUILD!!! The fourth part loaded inside my mothership and sent the pieces flying. I may attempt a second try... Maybe...

I've never had a fail that caused 2 ships to colide like that. I have done it on perpous once or twice for kicks but never accidently. I normaly dont plan my intercepts for that close an approach from far out anyway. I normaly aim for half a kilometer or so closest approach and adjust it as I'm geting closer so I'm slowing down if relitive velocity is high while geting the intercept fine tuned.

That said I've had plenty of other timewarp fails. Most of these are solved by runing kerbal alarm clock but the common list includes,

Warping past a manuver node

Warping past the intercept and haveing to burn alot or go around a few more times.

Warping through a SIO transition and ending up with a wildly different orbit than I was soposed to get

I also warped into a mountainside when on approach to a chosen landing site on minmus once. Didnt realize I was going to hit and timewarp didnt cut out till I was seconds from impact

I've had a few other times where I tried to physics warp during a burn when I really shouldnt have and ended up with a spontaneous disassembly.

It's been a while since the last incident of a craft re-solidifying inside another one, but I've had several cases of failing to come out of time warp in time to start braking, resulting in "docking" at over 100ms.

What I suffer from more these days is physics-warp related incidents with aircraft. One of the funniest ones was with a heavy cargo SSTO; I'd removed the roof from the cargo bay to fit a bulky payload, taking it up was fine, but on the way back down without either the cargo or the roof to strengthen that cargo bay, when I entered physics warp the plane basically folded in half and plummeted out of the sky. I got this pic as it started to fold up;

Not managed to have two ships occupying the same place; I had a near miss docking with my station once but that was just plain bad flying. Usually it's just the old warping past manoeuvres, which I manage to do even with Kerbal Alarm Clock. Alarm goes off, OK, check engines, rotate ship to marker, darn 3 minutes is too long to wait let's timewarp, oh balls we're five minutes past the node.

Whenever a claw part is on the ship this is almost guaranteed to happen. But the devs wont fix it...

Erm ya the claw is glitchy but I'm not quite sure what that has to do with timewarp fails. Interpolating ships or blasting past planed manuvers/objects wont be fixed by debuging the claw. Physics timewarp can exacerbate the claw glitches but physics warp can break alot of craft that are just fine normally, with or without a claw.

Hmm lets see...

-4x physics time warp tearing my rocket/plane to pieces? | Check

-Time warp past maneuver node? | Check

-Time warp past SOI and mess up my carefully planned orbit? | Check, Check and Check

-Time warp through a planet? | Check

-Time warp with Klaw attached to something and induce horrible Kraken attack? | Check

-Time warp and get kraken attack for seemingly no reason? | Check

-Time warp two vessels into each other? | Haven't done it... yet...

So yea, I have plenty of time warp fails (both my fault, and not my fault). I should probably stop cranking up the time warp and learn some patience

Nah, who am I kidding? TIME-WARP TO THE MAX :0.0:

I once timewarped with my jool5 mothership past laythe's soi. I just wanted a nice aerobreake. Timewarp disagreed. Well... picture a 500 t ship flying through the lower atmosphere of laythe with interplanetary speeds. It was the one and only time I actually got "damaged" on stock reentry. But damn, it was pretty :D

at first it looked like a giant burning banana, cause I wasnt able to hold it straight. After a couple of seconds it turned into the last scenes of gravity with all those parts and solar panels breaking and glowing. I still have a save file of it on approach, I should do pic

Same here, although I can also add:

Time warp to KAC alarm for SOI Transition... 15 mins wait damn.. just a little more... missed the SOI Damn!... quickload....Time warp to KAC alarm for SOI Transition... 15 mins wait DAMN.. careful this time... missed the SOI Damn!... quickload....Time warp to KAC alarm for SOI Transition... 15 mins wait - aha gotcha this time, adjust the margin... Warp again to SOI Alarm... 3 mins... I could warp just a little DAMN!!!!!

Although I happily trade the misses for having to wait real time for some events :)

Way too many times during a rendezvous and docking I'll timewarp WAY past my target, so I have to waste so much fuel just to get back to the thing. It has already happened once or twice in the construction of my Mun space station, and it is the most infuriating thing in the world when after twenty minutes of mission-ing you have to start all over.

I have literally never timewarped through another one of my ships, let alone panic-stopped while in the middle of it. I never even exploded one on purpose that way. Could be I'm just really good/patient with docking though...

What I HAVE done, though, is timwarp into Kerbin, making it disappear from the map screen....
