tater 20,008 Posted October 9, 2017 Welcome to the early 1960s... except coverage in color, lol.
YNM 2,183 Posted October 9, 2017 I'm impressed though, given the conditions. I tuned in right on ignition. Good luck !
tater 20,008 Posted October 9, 2017 As is the case with many launches, my comment referred more to the quality of the video than anything else. It;s amazing how spoiled we've become. If it's not HD video, it looks terrible, and if there is not an on-board camera all the way to space, I'm similarly bored.

Getting the satellite and the rocket running smoothly is impressive enough for Venezuela and China already - in fact, for every single one of them ! tater 20,008 Posted March 8, 2018 That last I posted was really meant for the thread specifically on the Tiangong reentry, but the forum is not working well right now. This was what I meant to paste:

If by ISS alternative you mean a modular space station, they want to start building one next year. This Tiangong 1 and Tiangong 2 are equivalent to the eary Russian stations or Skylab. Tinagong-2 (not the one about to reenter) will be the core module. This station is very much like the Salyut stations, and Mir. Note the 2 solar array modules look a lot like the Russian NEM concept. They are Soyuz with a little bigger head. 2.5 times lighter than Salyut and ~10 times lighter than Skylab.

I meant equivalent in that they are put up in a single launch, not necessarily comparable in mass.

Ultimate Steve 7,663 Posted March 19, 2018 I'm hoping Tiangong 1 stays up until at least April 2... I want to see it before it comes down and April 2 is the first good opportunity.

tater 20,008 Posted March 20, 2018 I haven't seen anything. Watching Chinese launches is kind of a pain, since they don't show them live.
