I'm impressed though, given the conditions.

I tuned in right on ignition. Good luck !

As is the case with many launches, my comment referred more to the quality of the video than anything else.

It;s amazing how spoiled we've become. If it's not HD video, it looks terrible, and if there is not an on-board camera all the way to space, I'm similarly bored.

yeah, you westerners get spoiled. Getting the satellite and the rocket running smoothly is impressive enough for Venezuela and China already - in fact, for every single one of them !

Not really quickly, considering that the last crew left the station in 2013.

That last I posted was really meant for the thread specifically on the Tiangong reentry, but the forum is not working well right now. This was what I meant to paste:

So what happened to the Chinese alternative to the ISS, are they abandoning having stations in space?

If by ISS alternative you mean a modular space station, they want to start building one next year. This Tiangong 1 and Tiangong 2 are equivalent to the eary Russian stations or Skylab.

Tinagong-2 (not the one about to reenter) will be the core module. This station is very much like the Salyut stations, and Mir. Note the 2 solar array modules look a lot like the Russian NEM concept.

They are Soyuz with a little bigger head.
2.5 times lighter than Salyut and ~10 times lighter than Skylab.

I meant equivalent in that they are put up in a single launch, not necessarily comparable in mass.

It‘s almost like KSP is modeled after real spaceflight. :P

I'm hoping Tiangong 1 stays up until at least April 2... I want to see it before it comes down and April 2 is the first good opportunity.

I haven't seen anything. Watching Chinese launches is kind of a pain, since they don't show them live.
