The Ultimate Jool 5 Challenge - 1.0 to 1.3
JedTech replied to sdj64's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Cool, KSP has changed, ISRU is in the stock game now. I think it is time for the challenge to change too. -
No engineer on Earth has the experience needed to repair wheels. If I were the game designer, I'd make it so that a Kerbal could earn the top level of experience for their profession within Kebin SOI. Then I'd make it possible to Kerbals to gain levels in other professions by going above and beyond Kebin SOI experience levels.

Is there a mod that you couldn't live without?
JedTech replied to Foxster's topic in KSP1 Mods Discussions
Wow! Just watched this, and I also must install it ASAP. Really though, it is absolute simplistic genius! Is there a 1.0.5 edition? Edit: Wow, I just realized that I will hardly ever use Action Groups any more. Mind = Blown -
Delta-V is displayed in KSP when you create a maneuver node. It is displayed as the m/s (meters per second) you have left to burn in order to accomplish the maneuver. Mods like Kerbal Engineer Redux allow you to see the Total Delta-V that your stages have both in flight and in the VAB. This can help you to better plan your missions. Use a Delta-V map like this to learn how much Delta-V it takes to get to certain places.

Please Squad, no more airplanes!

I like his ending points. It seems that so many people believe we need to stop global warming to save the world. That couldn't be more wrong. The only reason to stop global warming is to protect real estate and property near sea level. Humans who don't own property near sea level only stand to benefit from global warming. The amount of life and biodiversity on earth will increase as a result of global warming. Case in point: People need to stop thinking they're saving the world. they're not. they're just trying to save some wealthy persons beach property.

Stop parts from loading with ModuleManager
JedTech replied to DesertCookie's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
I wish there was a way to stop KSP from loading certain assets. I would love to save RAM and get rid of plane parts and IVA's. -
^This. I felt like buying straight from Squads store was the best way to support Squad & KSP. But maybe direct purchases from their store isn't beneficial to them? From now on when a newbie comes to the forum and asks where to buy KSP, the resounding answer from everyone will be: "Buy it on Steam!!!!"

Kerbal Space Program 1.1 Hype Train Thread.
JedTech replied to Whirligig Girl's topic in KSP1 Discussion
..first class Steam buyers.. grumble..grumble... Someone needs to warn all KSP buyers to not buy from a second class source. -
This is one of the beautiful part packs that I found, I really do love what I see! But it requires hangar extender and I feel the launchers are better suited for RSS than for the small stock system. Edit: I just went through your thread and read something about a stock config? Is this what I hope it is?
-
I've seen so many beautiful mods out there with RSS sized parts. Does anyone know of a good mod that has stock sized SLS or Ares launcher parts?
-
Internal views and IVA's are not for me. I just want to fly rockets. I wish there was a mod that could unload all of these wasteful textures and graphics.

Ended EVE Online subscription to make time for KSP 1.1
Should I renew EVE or dive back into 1.0.5? -
A: I hesitate to answer this question, yet again, for fear of flaming the toxic fumes of nay sayers and conspiracy theorists who would seek to fill Kerbals minds with the ignorant thought that the Eve landings did not take place. I'll say this one more time: We would not, indeed we could not produce the footage and valuable science that was captured during the Eve missions. Q: Some are starting to feel suspicious of Jeb's extended "R&R". What do you say to accusations that Jeb was actually abandoned on Eve?

Single key to stop time warp? (No mods.)
JedTech replied to egoego's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I just scanned some version change logs and couldn't find the exact version that the change occurred in. I'm fairly confident it was 1.0+ -

[1.8.x+] Strategia [v1.8.0] [2019-10-22]
JedTech replied to nightingale's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
This mod has fixed career mode! Thanks! Now I can choose my own career instead of following the career stock chooses for me. -
Utilitarian, for the greater good type of stuff (won't make much sense to average millennials) The thought was that is everyone uses 64-bit and is constantly communicating 64-bit problems to Squad, then Squad will make it a higher priority to make 64-bit work. Whereas, if everyone tries 64-bit, decides it doesn't work, and then goes back down to 32-bit; then Squad will only hear about 64-bit problems for a short period of time and will not make it a high priority.
-
For doing productivity stuff, I like Windows 10 For doing casual stuff like internet browsing, I like Mac OSX El Capitan I currently play KSP on Windows 10, but am excited to dive into Linux in the near future.

^This post is so helpful. Do you perform this service for all threads? I am finding it insightful as to how KSP 1.1 may be received by KSP players and modders. I have asked but have never received or seen an official answer. I assume that there will be based on comments I've heard skirting the issue. A few commenter's in this thread have been involved in 1.1 development and have not said otherwise. Maybe we'll get an official response soon
-
hehehe Thanks for your post! I feel like much of the community expects v1.1 to be the final and definite version where everyone starts to use 64-bit. I'm not sure if that expectation is safe.

Done!

I anticipated such a response and made a 3rd option for it. Thanks for your fundamental analysis of the question. I find the thread most enlightening. I have not seen this conversation taking place before. I like to learn about what other people think and feel. It helps me to learn and form my own opinions.
