Then I retract what said. Then I'm sure the ISS parts will fit. I was thinking it would need the big black fairings that Denny made for his proton.
-
Could you talk to bobcat maybe on making larger fairings/shrouds for proton and Soyuz? I've never downloaded the ISS but I imagine they are gonna need some bigger fairings. I don't quite remember but I don't think the MIR parts could even fit in the current shrouds. Like I said I could be wrong but from memory they didn't seem big enough. Idk between the CSS the Soyuz and Proton it could be slot if fun accurately assembling the iss and even MIR.

Haha good point. Also I wasn't looking for soviet failures I was just trying to say that the difference between the space programs is that the Russians I suppose have a Kerbal idea of space flight and the Americans are uptight to a fault about getting things done right the first time. If both were to truly combine and really put aside differences and national pride to explore space we could really get stuff done. I think the ISS is a perfect example that we can do extraordinary things together. However even with the ISS there was and still is a rivalry due in large part now to political issues. But a true international space program (which is definitely a dream) could get us into deep space with regular manned trips to other planets sooner rather than later. What the hell throw China into the mix and we are on the Moon again next year.
-
Right. As I said shouldn't it be about proper exploration and science? Not being first. So they were so interested in getting to the moon first they slammed together a beautiful and interesting looking rocket (the N-1) but in their desperation to be first destroyed 4 of them. Instead they could have took the time and might not have been first but gotten to the moon with a more impressive and efficient rocket and possibly being judged by history of getting to the moon better than the Americans. Im not saying that the American's didn't believe in being first but Im talking even after everything was said in done, NASA has always done there best to make sure things get done right the first time. I could be wrong but didn't the Soviets send 7 or 8 Venera probes only 4 of which completed their intended missions? As I said when it comes to spaceflight and exploration there is a huge difference between being first and doing it right. There is a reason why NASA always wins the "propaganda war" because they typically do there best to do things right.

A better feature would be Mechjeb setting up the nodes and allowing you to do all the work. But I suppose thats not a convo for this thread.

No I don't disagree with you. However, it just seems that even from the beginning the objective was always the moon. I suppose now looking back we say the moon race but it seemed pretty evident back then that the goal was the moon. For both programs each objective done in LEO orbit was to achieve the goal of going to the moon. Rendevous, Docking, eva, extended space flight, etc. Each objective accomplished by either the russians or the americans was always towards the goal of getting to the moon. Now as I said before looking back who has the most "firsts" well I don't think there is any argument it is the russians. However it just seems that only looking back people are saying the Russians won the space race but at the time when people said "space race" they always meant landing on the moon. I think when it comes to space flight, exploration, and science there is a huge difference between first and best. I am not saying the American space program isnt peppered with errors, failures, and flaws but it just seems, I could be wrong that NASA to a fault takes the time to test everything over and over again to mitigate the possibility of failure as much as possible. The Russian way was always test a little, launch, see what happens, fix whatever problem next time around. Which in it self, the Russians of have a proper grasp on the meaning of exploration. But half way through the "space race" the americans because of test after test after test were able to efficiently (pun fully intended) launch ahead of the Russians for the rest of the space race all the way to the moon. However there is certainly something to be said about who has a sustainable program today and who doesn't, which to me is the clear indicator as to who is currently winning the space race.
-
If we are using the analogy "Space Race" then the finish line was landing on the moon. I don't think anyone can deny the Soviets Union's amazing contributions to space travel. Now if the finish line is having a sustainable space program then the Soviet Union/Russia have succeeded in spades and left the United States in the dust. However the "space race" as we refer to it, was clearly and undoubtedly won by the United States.

Can you please please do your best to get mechjeb to work right with the super 25. Some of us really need it.
-
I don't doubt that, I suppose what I meant was what they did with them in the movie was unrealistic. I am more of a Deep Impact guy and I suppose I like "The Messiah" more. If I had any modding skills at all the first thing I would work on, would be making a messiah. Especially since the ARM update.
-
Oh I didn't click the links I just read the X-33 from Armageddon. Those are really cool (however unrealistic) shuttles.
-
Are those Proc Fairings in the pics or are those yours? I just think the fairings should go further and meet around the tower up the LES and the tower should be slightly taller, if you are going for the Soyuzesue feeling. However I know you aren't making a replica and to be perfectly honest it looks great either way. Look at the pic below see how tall the LES is and the fairings go above the cone and wrap around the the tower. Also what if you wrote "ôþüþрþщõýýыõ рðúõты" translation home grown rockets.
-
Lol can we get the Super 25 first before you start suggesting another one?! However that shuttle would be awesome. I think unfortunately I recall helldiver possibly in one of the twitch streams saying that he didn't even expect to make the Super 25 but so many people were requesting a bigger version to fit stock and KSO station parts that he felt compelled to make the super 25 just fyi.
-
Im surprised people havent started to as "Is this thread dead?"
-
Could you possibly add more nodes to the J2 plate for the Rl-10's? For really long distance stuff you know?
-
After years of use and completion of the ISS the Kerbal Government decided to retire their Shuttle fleet. They removed the engines and shipped the magnificent flying machines off to museums around the planet. However they forgot one thing, they left Jeb stranded on the ISS with no way of getting home!! Enter HGR, several months of planning, development, testing, and lives of kerbals (hard to get those fairings to work right) the Soy-Juice was completed and Jeb was recovered safely from the ISS. Look at Jebs face, he is glad he is finally on his way home, naturally knowing nothing about the craft he wanted to fly it home.

I don't know if its a bug or a personal idiosyncrasy but shouldn't these stripes line up? I am sure this ranks at the bottom of what you are looking for in terms of bugs but its just something i noticed. edit: its was just lighting thing it supposed to look like that sorry

PorkWorks dev thread [Habitat Pack] [SpaceplanePlus]
sp1989 replied to Porkjet's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
Check LazTek SpaceX Mod not only are they unbelievably accurate and pretty but he also added some of the thing SpaceX has planned but cant get off the ground. Like this -
Is there a way of making the textures toggleable? I know blackheart is doing the toggleable textures for all his tanks. It seems like it would be easier than making Soyuz and Shenzou tanks. If I'm not mistake I even think he's got toggleable Proc fairings. Idk it might be easier than making different tanks for each variation. Obviously the booster tanks are unique for the Soyuz but for what you are trying to do both designs are essentially the same, no?

Also in the name of peace and sanity I wholeheartedly admit that in the past I have unabashedly defended modders in the past at the risk of stifling progress. I have since started to change and not just snapping to modders defense. However there are people on here who are (word moderators will not like) and it's not defense of the authors and modders it's just common decency. However I stand by my original I really wasn't defending anyone I was just trying to settle a discussion about what I interpreted as the purpose of the pack. I was probably mistaken but such is life.
-
Woah woah guys this is already getting out of hand! I wasn't trying to defend anyone! That was not my intention at all. All I was trying to do was point out what's in the mission statement on the first page, that's it! If you want to make this something bigger than it actually is then by all means go ahead, but I will not continue with this and get caught into another endless cycle where nothing gets solved and all we do is annoy the hell out of each other.
-
Yea....no that's not what I was trying to do it all. Nice attempt at trying to analyze my motives. I was simply trying to settle something. Look back there was three or four posts about kerbalized Nasa parts and of they are realistic or not. It wasn't really a making a decision thing or even a defense thing. I was more addressing the people who were analying the level of realism in the pack and what they thought it should be. No offense but I think you need to calm down.
