  1. That it be! Slay it, before it breeds more! For future reference, if you find a cool old challenge that hasn't seen activity for a while, re-make it
  2. It certainly is a real-life challenge! If I were setting this challenge, I would try to get people who already use a team-chat server (steam, Skype, Crossfire, AIM or similar) on-board to make the discussion a bit easier... with the forum, *bad things* can happen on rare occasion, such as the crash of April 13 that I've heard so much about (but missed by nearly whole year!) - Squad do look into upgrading the forum from time to time as well, which can sometimes have unforeseen consequences (which is why the last update got rolled back...). Another problem you might run into is save file corruption; don't ask me how, but I sometimes manage to corrupt my own save files enough without sharing them with anyone else haha And as there are some multiplayer servers about which seem reasonably stable (Dark Multiplayer Server is the one I hear most about from the Forum Steam Chat) that could be an alternative to uploading and downloading a save file a whole load of times... again, just suggestions
  3. Baby-step challenges; challenge him to hit a certain height, then get him to try and beat it... or get to stable orbit and back down, then higher and higher Apoapsis until he can get an intercept with the Mun (think it's only Kerbin and Mun in the Demo, happy to be corrected though )
  4. I wonder, if you destroy a building (accidentally or on-purpose) will you have the tier 1 when you rebuild and have to upgrade it again, or will it rebuild to the level you've got it to? This could cause some interesting gameplay all on it's own!
  5. Wow, spoiler alert! - please edit the title (go edit, then advanced edit) to warn people >.< EDIT: Thanks
  6. Now this adds something xD and nice tip, why the heck didn't I think of that before?!
  7. Interesting Necro! Expect this to get locked now though, as you haven't really added anything new, just a throwaway comment...
  8. You seem to expect an instant reply one way or the other, the forum isn't facebook! I think that Squad have said that they are moddable, so really you will have better luck raising this in the add-on dev sub-forum... either in the requests or the discussion, either one should get the attention of the people who regularly play around with these things
  9. I like the idea, but as others have said, scale is important! I'm hoping this is just the 1st pass and everything will be put into scale and have better textures, but as it won't be like this for very long if it's still so easy to get funds/science/rep, I won't mind too much (EDIT: And this isn't as devisive as the first proposal for kXP, at least ) 2nd EDIT: and as we've started posting pictures of early rocket experiments, here's Jack (John Whiteside) Parsons et al carrying out a rocket engine test in Aroyo Seco, Nevada: They didn't even have any buildings at first, they just lugged what they needed out to the desert and started testing Much later they did have a few buildings; this is the famed JPL in 1942:
  10. Interesting challenge, but... needs a little more fleshing out, really! Are you going to be passing around a save file, or doing this on a multiplayer server? Why does this seem to be a team challenge, but for only one team? This seems more like a request for help for a self-set challenge rather than one for the open forum, if you check out most of the other challenges they are designed to be accomplished by someone playing on their own rather than the sometimes messy sharing of a save file/setting up a server... Please, don't take this negatively, I think it could be a good challenge with a bit more planning (and maybe read the http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/24898-Challenge-Submission-Guide, if you haven't already)
  11. 1) What would Happen - exactly what happened in the video, if we're talking in-game... 2) what if it was kerbin - uh, yeah, see answer 1... 3) what if it was earth - not possible... physical matter doesn't behave like in a game... unless you use the RSS mod, in which case, see answer 1... 4) what if it was jool - this is getting a bit repetitive... anything is possible in a game... not everything is possible in real life... None of this meant negatively/harshly, just thought I would try to answer your questions...
  12. and this should probably be in the rocket builders discussion, not the main discussion... And lights, you will need lots of lights
  13. I think you need to check here: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/24898-Challenge-Submission-Guide No offense, but I have seen this challenge before - even one where the challenge was to get as many Launch Vehicles stacked on top of each other as possible, until the last one barely makes it back to orbit after lanidng back on kerbin! (EDIT: Launcherception, I think it was called...) And, your attempt?
  14. Yep, spot on! Having some fun trying to wor out how to upload photo's from my windows phone atm (because it's new and I'm still getting used to the Noia handset, not because of any other reason ) so my page looks a little bare, but so will my face later on! (hehe) EDIT: By going to www.Movember.com you can find out how to participate in nearly any country in the world (useful for different language speakers )
  15. Thought I'd stick something up about it, it's all for a good cause after all! Link to my fundraising page: http://mobro.co/arn1e2040 Anyone else joining in, feel free to add your link/s here! "WE MO AT DAWN!"
  16. My experimental phase in sandbox is complete; I'm now working through a new career (normal mode with max Science and Funds, but default Rep) to the point where I can attempt the challenge properly! I've come up with some interesting new ship designs with the new parts, which I'm hoping will make it a little bit more interesting for Ziv to review, IF I can get around the wierd docking bug (strange things occur atm, and seemingly due to control parts/docking...) Not sharing any pics yet, as I want my designs to be a surprise, but trust me, they are interesting! (You can get an idea from some of the cargo bay threads somewhere... or if you happen to be in the Steam chat when I'm asking opinions about latest designs )
  17. Happy Halloween, and may all your space explorations be more 'enlightening'! (DO YOU SEE?!)
  18. All good, no repeat of the fireworks we had yesterday
  19. We're watching along in the Steam chat again, feel free to join in (2:30 minutes to go!!!)
  20. Belongs in the Space Lounge... in fact, already 2 threads up covering this... and we've been watching along and discussing in the steam chat...
  21. As TJPrime said, it's best if you try the challenge yourself first to make sure it's possible... twice if there are different scorings/modes! It also helps to set the target to aim for; doesn't matter if someone smashes your record straight away, it just give us a better idea of what you mean
  22. Been windows phone since I went smart... um... phone... Best bet is to get hands-on... go into a shop and ask to be shown the handsets in your price range, and choose the one that is best for you
  23. Nice Necro! But you really should re-make the challenge if you really want to do one that hasn't had anything happen in a year and a half...
  24. well, that depends... I only use the physicsless parts on small landers and things, not on my huge interplanetary beasts I've been making recently... when you have 5 modular landers in 4 cargo bays, the physicsless parts don't count as much...
