What OS do Space Probes/Craft Use?
Kartoffelkuchen replied to KAL 9000's topic in Science & Spaceflight
SpaceX uses Linux for its Falcon's. OK, not exactly a probe, but anyway... -
[1.7.2] KK Launchers - Delta, Atlas Pack
Kartoffelkuchen replied to Kartoffelkuchen's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
@Shaikhaanshai1 I just tested again, you are right indeed. Atlas V 541 can't reach Duna, even completely without payload. This is, simply because I had to make a comprimise at some point, between realistic payload to LKO and realistic payload to GTO/GKO. You'll have to choose an Atlas V 551 to launch payloads to Duna. I'll probably change performance when I am finished with the revised Atlas V, but until then, you'll have to deal with it. You could also try to use a kick motor. -

That is a great thread, thanks!! -
[1.7.2] KK Launchers - Delta, Atlas Pack
Kartoffelkuchen replied to Kartoffelkuchen's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Delta III is in the Delta folder, not in its own folder like the other rockets. Why? All the Deltas share parts, Delta II and III both use the RS-27A and GEM-46 boosters, and I can also reuse textures. Delta III and 4 share their DCSS, so all Delta's will be in that one folder once I re-released them again. Though make sure that Delta 2 & 3 are currently only available for KSP 1.0.4. -
[1.7.2] KK Launchers - Delta, Atlas Pack
Kartoffelkuchen replied to Kartoffelkuchen's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
You just need to put GameData folder into KSP/GameData and then go to the Extras folder and put the files in there into GameData, that's it, you don't have to rename anything. -
[1.2 - 1.4] Real Scale Boosters, 0.16 (2018-03-12)
Kartoffelkuchen replied to NecroBones's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
@NecroBones Move the thrusters slightly above the CoM of your fairing. It's enough if they do a very short impulse to split the fairings. Otherwise, you can also work with the ModuleFairingDecoupler from @Felbourn check out how I did that if you have interest.- 966 replies

[1.7.2] KK Launchers - Delta, Atlas Pack
Kartoffelkuchen replied to Kartoffelkuchen's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
That shouldn't be too hard to do actually. Just some custom particles and a simple model should do. -
It pitches up. Same goes for Ariane 5s second stage for example. Though they always fall back at some point, but it's actually what they do in real life.

[1.7.2] KK Launchers - Delta, Atlas Pack
Kartoffelkuchen replied to Kartoffelkuchen's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
1. If it says nothing like "6.4k", "RSS/RO" etc. in the Supports section, it is only stock compatible. 2. You installed everything from the GameData folder from the pack into KSP GameData folder? And installed Old School Fairings? Centaur doesn't flip usually. Otherwise, I didn't mind CoM, as long as the parts worked for me, and they did so. 3. No comment, Atlas will be redone, so I won't mind with incorrect dimensions. No sense in fixing that now. 4. OK. 5. You need BD Animation Modules to make RL-10 extend/retract (sorry, forgot to mention that, it's now also listed as required in the OP). 6. Doesn't happen with BD Animation Modules installed. 7. How do you attach fairings to each other? That's why I have provided .craft files... 8. Well, OK then... 9. I can lower them a little bit, but you need a higher than usual gimbal range to make the rocket controllable with SRBs. 10. Well, balancing real stuff to stock is always hard, and often ends up with unrealistic numbers if you compare the size with fuel, thrust etc. I'm sorry, but there's not really more which can be done about this if you want a more realistic performance. They are for stock use. 11. Atlas V will be redone, I won't bother with that. You could just use a MM patch for things like SMURFF. It may be easier first to just balance the parts for stock or something, and then just let SMURFF do its thing, but I'd rather like having full control over everything. Why would you convert stuff to 62.5%? If you converted the parts smaller, use 64%, that's what the most parts use. This mod isn't supposed to be stockalike. I'd like you to, if you really want to do all this, use Modulemanager. I know I know, just editing the configs itself is easier, but it always leaves the opportunity to just remove the patch again, instead of reinstalling the pack. -
BDAnimation module lets you play an engine animation first, abd inly after animation is completed the engine is ignited.

[1.7.2] KK Launchers - Delta, Atlas Pack
Kartoffelkuchen replied to Kartoffelkuchen's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I could have a look at it. I didn't do Real Plumes before. But it's an interesting option. Though, just to mention it, the MUOS-4 plume looked mostly the way it looked because the sun shone onto it in a special way, but I can try to make a nice plume! -
[1.7.2] KK Launchers - Delta, Atlas Pack
Kartoffelkuchen replied to Kartoffelkuchen's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
The *upper stage* has 4000 liquid fuel? That can't possibly be right. The config file gives it 720 lqf and 880 ox, and even the 1.1 and 1.1 FT don't have more than 2000 lqf.. -
OK, me again. So, it seems the visible part of the Centaur attached to the rocket is too long indeed. Those 8.71m we can see on the illustration can be totally correct. Mine is a little too short, 8.1m instead of 8.7m.
-
@NecroBones Don't worry, your dimensions are more accurate than mine. If you look, CCB is 32.46m long (engine nozzle-top probably) according to spaceflight101.com, mine is only 28.77m long. Overall, my Atlas V seems to be about 5m off. So you'll be more accurate than me here. I am working on the revamp of the Atlas V, and then the sizes should be much more accurate. So don't worry, you seem to did everything right. Though your Centaur looks a little too long, but that's only guessing from the image. And the conical interstage adapter (on top of CCB) looks a little squished, if you compare it to real Atlas Vs. Great job otherwise! :)) Edit: I only measured the length of CCB from top to bottom, without the engines. Length about 28.8m, so it's close what you calculated (~29m). Try adjusting the length of your Centaur, that should get the dimensions closer to the real one.

The Dragon I've included us the first test Dragon, which is not operational. Yeah I'I'll see what I'll do wuth Dragon s, but that's still out a bit.. @Delta_8930 You should just need to right click and switch textures. I'll look into it. -
Ah ok then! Aw thanks man! Great to hear that from you! :]
-
Yes of course it is, how else would you do it?
-
Here's an image from MUOS-4 launch. You can see two struts on each SRB. I made a bottom, roundish attachment joint, together with the two struts at the top, which are the decoupler. See here: The two more struts at the bottom you can see on my images are not there on the "real decoupler" as it seems, it only uses the small joint on the bottom.

Maybe, but if I should add it, much later. Top priority is getting everything revamped for KSP 1.1. -
[1.7.2] KK Launchers - Delta, Atlas Pack
Kartoffelkuchen replied to Kartoffelkuchen's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Can't say yet. The original plan was to release nothing for KSP 1.0.5, and to remake everything for KSP 1.1 and then release the remade stuff, but it seems like 1.1 will still need some time, so maybe I'll change the plans a bit and publish some of the rockets for KSP 1.0.5. I have already most parts of Atlas V done for KSP 1.0.5, only the fairings don't really want to work properly... I can't say. Revamped parts are 100% sure, and will be released once 1.1 kicks in, everything else, no promise... -
I might remember from when I was working on the first version of the Atlas V, that all CCentaur's on Atlas Vs were white (don't know about 5xx missions how it was there). Centaur with insulation were used on the first few Atlas Vs maybe and were previlously used with insulation on Atlas III. Also, Centaur has helium bottles and spheres for RCS propellant, the number of them increases as longer the missions are, on a side note. I still have no idea how you can just work on soo many things and finish them so fast.
