  1. I believe this is because other planet's atmospheres don't scale quite as nicely as kerbins and are still quite thick near the top. It's not a problem at duna because the atmosphere is so thin to begin with
  2. I don't think it does, because the rear wheels are much closer to the CM, they have much more of the planes weight riding on them. I suspect any sideslip on landing is because they are acting as a pivot. In fact, having the gear far forwards may even act as a stabilising force on account of their distance from the CM for the same reason that tailplanes are more effective the farther back you put them. I could be wrong though.
  3. 8 gigs should keep ubuntu running without a hitch, RAM is probably not your problem.
  4. I was cleaning out my PC this afternoon and I somehow killed one of my sticks of RAM in the process. My theory is that I somehow shorted it, even after I grounded myself before beginning the cleaning. so now I am down to 12 GB
  5. Its gotta be the K.S.S Betelgeuse. Has SRB takeoff assist, 6 crew capacity, and can get to orbit with 3 km/s delta-v in the tanks, perfect for servicing my minmus base.
  6. Whenever I fly I think "could I land this plane?" and sometimes I convince myself that I could. Even if its a 747.
  7. Wow. This is definitely one of the coolest looking bases I have ever seen:cool: +rep!
  8. I find that this doesn't really need doing because the back already has twice the torque on account of the fact that there are two wheels as opposed to one, providing the aforementioned stabilizing force.
  9. Are there any significant performance hits when running Windows in a vm? why not let it have its own partition?
  10. GTX 760 over here. The game runs smooth as butter with an i7-2600 as well. (aside from the usual short pauses)
  11. I tried both suggestions, still did not work. When I fired the chutes before decoupling, the chutes cameout and then cut the moment I pressed the space bar. As to NathanKell, I turned on that option but it had no effect
  12. I currently have a spaceplane that does not quite have enough thrust to takeoff before the end of the runway, so I added some small SRBs to help. the problem is even though the parachutes are set to fire when the boosters decouple, they do not deploy unless I switch to the falling debris? is there a way around this other than switching to the debris? Configuration: Separation (notice lack of chutes):
  13. The thing that I think needs doing the most is definitely more detailed surfaces and more things to do on them (encouragement to explore!)
  14. I usually name my things based on what they are going to do (I.E, Minmus base) but I will name things that I put a lot of work into after famous scientists or celectial objects with the prefix K.S.S for Kerbal Space Ship. (i.e K.S.S Andromeda or K.S.S Galileo)
  15. I can't wait to play KSP on my Zune. (P.S I don't have a Zune. no one has a Zune. even people who have Zunes don't have a Zune)
  16. Arooo, maybe so, but I know a place where limits don't mean squat! [cuts to sandbox]
  17. speaking of this, was there a squadcast tonight?
  18. Also one thing I see is that devs like to reply to questions on Reddit, where dev comments on devote Tuesdays are almost unheard of.
  19. Good job. You'll love linux!
  20. I don't know much about craft file editing, but couldn't you just attach the back wing directly to the front one and use center alignment from there?
  21. Sure. in FAR, I have a plane that can deliver a modest payload (confined more by the mk2 form factor than by weight) all the way to minmus orbit, or to the surfice if it can refuel there: Plane: The lander is on the right: Sorry I don't have a better pic of the plane, travelling atm and don't have a KSP-worthy computer on hand.
  22. Hopefully there will be more leaks tomorrow during squadcast:P
