Set a Kerbal's mood on EVA
Kevin Kyle replied to cephalo's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I feel a new mod lurking in the distance Wish I knew how to code. lol I love both of the above post. -
Im at the same point and I feel the same way, honestly, its just now becoming really great to play since my skills and knowledge has increased so much, thanks to the community and Squad for that.

Base-In-A-Box. Expandable modular surface base!
Kevin Kyle replied to Rune's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
I seriously need to get with the program and post some pics. That is a very nice base. Mine isnt quite that big but similar. I put my base on the upper side of the big canyon (Mun) a little ways from the edge in a crater there. It all went pretty well. I will be using this again when I get my new career save back to this point again. -
Cool, ty

Home made Telescop mirror. Is it possible?
Kevin Kyle replied to Arugela's topic in Science & Spaceflight
My 6 inch has a homemade mirror and its a great one. I probably couldnt afford to buy one that good. I didnt make it but I want to make a larger one. There are a few companies that coat mirrors, its not too expensive. Of course, reflector teles are the ones most commonly made and offer the most bang for your bucks. If you have some mechanical skills, you can pretty easily make your own. Read read and read some more. You do realize that your going to see mostly just black and white, its not all colorful like the images you see but yet still fascinating. These days, amateurs do imaging that rivals what pros did only a few years or so back. It can be an expensive hobby or you can get buy on an amazingly small amount. You can see a great deal with your average binoculars if you simply know where to look. Sorry for straying a bit off the topic and for rambling on a bit. :) -
Home made Telescop mirror. Is it possible?
Kevin Kyle replied to Arugela's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Here is what you are looking for. https://stellafane.org/tm/ Making a mirror isnt really too hard, the basics are you rub 2 pieces of glass together and eventually, you will have a mirror. They are tested with light and are of extreme precision. They arent even a perfect curve , more like a combination of curves blended together. Hopefully that link will work. There are many sites on this process. Be aware that working with glass needs certain precautions. It can be dangerous to your health. Im talking a relector type telescope mirror. There are others, lens based tele's are a different beast. -
If I get a chance over the holidays, I will do a sandbox flight and compare to your past stuff. Ive done this flight twice before. its always been great. I did forget to put the brake on once before I released the rover. You should have seen me trying to catch up to it and stop it. Too bad I didnt get that on video, the how not to release your rover addition. :)

Keep maneuver nodes from collapsing?
Kevin Kyle replied to Waxing_Kibbous's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
It still collapses with precise node but O toggles it back on. Much better than zooming back in to find it and click it.
Thanks, I didnt know that either. BTW, I love Precise node. -
I have mixed feelings on this one. I have never used mechjeb but I do use engineer. I just do all the flying myself. One side of me says this is the way it was meant to be played. The other side of me says that astronauts quit doing the flying at some point in history and I wish it was just built stock. I dont use a whole lot of mods to begin with but I am starting to think that it might be time to consider it later on in my career. One thing about not using it, I have learned to fly my stuff by the seat of my pants which allowed me to get into orbit way early in my current career. No nodes required. So, Im still on the fence but not using it.

How 'environmentally conscious' are you?
Kevin Kyle replied to mangekyou-sama's topic in KSP1 Discussion
This build and current campaign, I havent left a single piece of space debris anywhere. Gone out of my way to keep it that way. So that means, just like many others, I have slam dunked every moon and planet within my reach. Havent gotten any calls from any agencies claiming bad things about my methods and no Kerbals have died in space or on planet so I guess its all good. -
Base-In-A-Box. Expandable modular surface base!
Kevin Kyle replied to Rune's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
I made a refueling ship with a docking port sr on it to top off the cradles at Munar orbit. Only 2 really needed the fuel, one has enough fuel in the container inside the cradle to make it on its own. I did add a couple of the large SRB's and I took a couple things off. I removed the chutes and the sepratrons and air brakes which honestly probably made little difference in fuel requirements. No Imgur yet so no images yet. :) I will get that done and post a couple of pics. The refuel ship fit very well with this. Sweet, simple, effective and fit well with the other ships. I forgot to mention that I had enough fuel left to launch the containers into a nice little suborbital which tided up the base area and left me with some cool explosions to entertain myself with. :) I also put mst of the remaining fuel from that one container ship back into the fuel container before undocking it and sending it on its way as well. -
Sorry to hear that. My cat is my family. He's 15 now but he is a healthy 18 lb sweetheart with really long sharp claws and teeth. Glad he is mostly gentle. Dont know how much longer he will live but I know its going to be hard on me when he goes. My heart goes out to you. I love animals. I forgot to mention that this cat chose me, I didnt choose him. Funny how life works sometimes.

Im sure I read that it could be disabled and forgot but its gone as soon as I get home to shut it off. Causes all kinds of grief when using Precise node. Similar to other issues I have at times when scrolling with the mouse wheel changing my zoom when all I really wanted to do was scroll a list. Thanks for reminding me how to get rid of that.

Im pretty sure that 1.1 will open doors to things that wouldnt have been practical before. I can live with what I have just fine right now and I pretty much only do rockets so far. Im impressed with whats happened so far from such a small team. Im looking forward to whats coming. That doesnt mean I wouldnt like new parts and a more robust campaign. Not sure what the future is going to bring but I bet we wont be disappointed.

Errrrr, I remember that now, I had forgotten all about that, ty for steering me straight again.

I started a new career and I was expecting a lot less offered contracts on parts you dont own yet but I seem to have a lot of them. Maybe I misunderstood that part of the contract rework?

Today, new build and starting from new. I completed my first orbit and return safely landing at the space center 5 and a half hours (Kerbin time) into a new campaign. Playing on moderate setting this time around. By far the earliest I have ever accomplished that. Been here since .018. Making orbit by the seat of my pants is a relatively new thing for me. Only have the pretty basic stuff. No improvements on any of the buildings. Just flying it and watching the instruments and the numbers. Rocket was 2 stages composed of flt200's, a 100 and one each of the swivel upper and reliant and a couple of hammers that were half empty to meet the weight restriction. Im sure it can be done earlier on less and has, maybe next time when 1.1 gets here. Jeb made the historic flight following up on Val's historic sub orbital flight only hours before.
