  1. I was born at the beginning of the space race and grew up wanting to be an astronaut. I loved Orbiter and when I discovered KSP , I couldnt stop myself. Been loving it since then.
  2. I had a used booster nearly hit me once, it was very very close and it passed by fast. It would have been a devastating hit, hence the reason I dont leave junk in orbit any longer.
  3. I always plan my launches to get rid of the debris one way or another like others have said. There is the occasional debris but its seldom that it happens. I even deorbit the debris when I rescue kerbal's in orbit.
  4. oh ya, got out and pushed a couple times early on in my learning experiences, got real good at EVA. Yes, I was successful but I had to do it over several orbits. My biggest fear was landing on the side of a tall steep mountain after all that pushing, fortunately, that didnt happen. I make sure the tank has fuel before I leave the house now.
  5. Thank you for all the joy you have brought to my life. I wish you all the best for your future.
  6. I know a few devs and all Im going to say is that they are people just like the rest of us only we expect miracles of them. Thanks dev team for all you have done and thanks to all that contributed as well. Im more than willing to give then a break. If I never played KSP again, it would still be one of the best values I ever got in this crazy world we live in. Ever!
  7. Its a tuff call between Kerbal Engineer and Kerbal Alarm Clock. But it all goes together with the Dv chart, Optimal rocket calculator and launch window planner. Its hard to live without any of those. That being said, I dont always go strictly with the info I get from any of them with the exception of Kerbal Alarm clock. After all, in real life, they have lots of info well before they actually put something on the pad and send it.
  8. I find that leaving the Kerbin system and going interplanetary is no different than going to the Mun. Only thing that really changes is the distance and required dv obviously increase but the principle is still the same, So instead of Kerbin being the main body, the sun becomes the main body until you arrive at the target planet. I dont use mechjeb but I do use the launch window planner. Once I have the general launch window, I keep messing with the node until it comes into it. I also use the dv chart so I know I have what I need to get there. After you have done it once, it becomes a lot easier to have faith that you can get there and back.
  9. I happen to make parts for dyno's and I just happen to make the seals that keeps the water out of the bearings. I still to this day dont fully understand how the water doesnt run right through there but it doesnt. Water is pumped into the rotating dyno at a pretty good rate and pressure. Im always amazed that they dont leak. But truth is, they probably do leak a little bit and they deal with it.
  10. At home Im a slave at my keeper's castle. But at my parents and my job, Im followed around like Im a Prince. So I guess my answer depends on where I am currently located.
  11. Well, I guess I never looked at where you were from. I had no idea so I guess your English is doing just fine. lol As always, looking forward to what ever you do. I like your stuff for how neat it is and how well it performs. It has that real world look. Performs real world like and has everything a manned mission could want. It seems its whats needed to make a trip to Mars just like Nasa and everyone else wants to do. I need to take this to Jool :).
  12. I always have a list of games I am playing. Usually only concentrate on 2 or 3 at a time though. Ive been an avid gamer since the very first days of gaming. Had to drive 30 mins up to the big city and go to a mall (I use the term mall very loosely here) and go to Funway Freeway, the 1st arcade anywhere close in Indiana. Been gaming every since. I love FPS's and simulations. Tops on my list, simracing. 18 yrs now if we just consider serious sims. iRacing spend most of my time here KSP, 2nd in line in a close contest with racing Far Cry 4 DayZ Grim Fandango XCom newest one And quite a few more I toy with once and a while I can still remember playing my first ever game of Pong, its been a long while ago, Im sure some of you were not born yet. Looking forward to the future of gaming. I doubt I will ever grow old.
  13. I see very little hope that we will survive ourselves let alone any cataclysmic event we might encounter, but there is always hope if nothing else. So I say slim and none.
  14. Hmmm, not sure, some more info would be helpful. Are you just starting out? Maybe havent upgraded any buildings yet? It should just be there but it might be if you havent upgraded the tracking station yet that it might not show yet. Im just guessing at this point. Ive never had a problem that I can recall. If I remember, I will check this on a new build. Really need a little more info though.
  15. I guess I am going to use that mod Auto Actions mentioned on page 1. The all at 100 or all at 0 really wasnt the ideal situation. With the Auto Actions mod, I can at least set it in the VAB or the SPH on a individual basis and set other things as well. I guess that will have to do for now. Seems the best solution that I can see. Thanks for pointing that out, I guess I overlooked that post and what it had to offer. The other mod option is a bit unclear to me as to how it is used. You must have to add that line to the physics, cfg file or make a patch file so that MM can add it? Neither of those solutions are very newb friendly though.
  16. Did not know that. Apparently, a lot of people dont know that. I must have missed that in the release notes somewhere.
  17. Does any of this affect the atmosphere, drag, weights or anything of that nature? Is it all just visual only? Ive had it installed before and I really liked it a lot but something I had installed changed something and broke a rocket that I use. Been trying to figure out what it was that broke things. Might have been KIS and KAS and not this at all. Thought I would ask and maybe that would help me to figure out what did change things. I love mods but they can be a double edged sword at times.
  18. Im am sure that Squad's plate is full and overflowing is the why of it. I bet they want to do all kinds of things that they simply dont have enough hours to do. Right now, they are just trying to get us on to the new engine and keep what they have still working. After that part is through, they will head off into another facet of where they want to go. Looking back at this thread, it really is a pretty trivial thing we are talking about. There are so many other things that need their immediate attention right now. I just hope the convo has brought some attention to it and allows it to go on the todo list somewhere down the road. If I had to guess, that list is VERY long. It seems a simple request but I bet it really isnt as simple as it seems. Somebody would have to code it all up and make sure it doesnt break anything in the process. Just like my trade, tool and die, seems easy from an outside pov but in reality, someone has to do it and get it right and make money too. Suddenly easy has slipped out the back door. I really dont expect to see any changes here anytime soon. Such is life!
  19. Nothing snarky I seen anywhere, nothing at all, just a good convo for both sides of the fence. Thats a good thing! Its pretty hard not to agree with the other side of the fence too. Sometimes I wish we had a built in checklist, again, a pretty minor thing that you can do yourself. Normally, I go through the same sequence as everyone else. Im also aware that there are probably mods that do exactly these things. I love our mod community, they bring so much more to the table. This has been a great discussion, eye opening as it were! TY all for your participation, our forums are great here!
  20. The thing about full throttle on launch is many times we use solid boosters and they dont have anything but full thrust. Almost all of us build to launch at full throttle of what ever we set them up to be. It only makes sense to go with full throttle because of the solid boosters. Seems the only way to me. Just like it makes sense to have planes on the runway, brakes on and minimum throttle. Im fine with the explanation for the rocket engines needing time to fire up to proper operating status before the solids ignite as well but all those systems are automated, even the shutdown on fail is automated on the pad. So if ours was automated as well, then we would be real world-like. But we dont have any of that in a stock KSP build. Maybe that will someday change. The reason I made this post in the first place is for all the post you always see and will always see is the answer to the question, why doesnt my rocket lift off the pad, it just sits there? We all know the answer to that because we are veterans. Still, I bet we all still make that mistake now and then. It just makes sense to do it like that. just like it would make sense to have computer launch and flight control at some advanced point in the science ladder. Dont get me wrong, Ive never even used mechjeb, always fly them myself but lets face it, computers fly the planes and rockets of our modern day world. Im only suggesting a minor change for the future to make life more fun. In all honesty, I do hope we get more advancements built into KSP as it moves forward. Its come so very far already. I bet the devs hadnt really counted on it turning into what it has become today. They just wanted to have fun building and launching rockets, it has already exceeded that which is already beyond what KSP 1.0 was meant to be in the first place. I get the feeling we are heading into a somewhat unknown future now, The success of KSP has lead us down this path. Sorry for getting all off topic but I am just so excited about the future. To take a well used line from another simulation forum............How many pizza's do I need to send to make this happen? TY all for listening to my little letter of hope!
  21. Actually , zero on the launchpad is better than 50, Ide prefer 100 but I will take 0 if it would be easier to do than split them between the strip and the pad.
  22. Actually, rockets on the pad to full and planes on the runway to minimum and brakes on would be the best thing. Should make everyone happy
