  1. Dude, just no. Don't go there. It actively detracts from the credibility your argument (which I strongly agree with). It is speculation-based, and not fact-based. This is KSP--We do things the right way.
  2. https://www.nasa.gov/feature/nasa-twins-study-investigators-to-release-integrated-paper-in-2018 Scott Kelly spent one year on ISS. His identical twin, Mark, did not. "The Kelly twins are the only identical twin astronauts in history." This study did a thorough biological comparison of the two. Significantly: There are some fairly prosaic theories for these differences. Still, a very interesting and unique study, with possible far-reaching ramifications.
  3. I just spammed the heck out of discord with this thread. Someone with a reddit account should post a summary of the salient points to /r/KerbalSpaceProgram. That's where the audience is ($$$).
  4. I'm necro-ing this on the grounds that it's a great deal of fun, and I hope you do more.
  5. Such a great actor. I'm old enough to have seen him in a lot of roles. He had an extraordinary talent for playing "bad guys" you could empathize with. If you ever get the chance to watch Creator, he's hilarious.
  6. Based on some limited testing, I've had good results with lowering the spring and damper. Things don't jump as high. Damper seems to have about twice the effect that spring does.
  7. Divide the fuel per stage proportionally to the number of engines that are firing. That's probably less-efficient, because you're shedding mass later, but your thrust curve more consistent.
  8. Instead of having to distribute a modpack, you can make a "metapackage" for CKAN. You can then solve part-balancing with Module Manager files. Also, have you seen this? https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCRCNVzCVrRC4yY2Nyd4_BWA/videos
  9. This changes my Junos-as-air-breathing-generators considerably. Originally, I just divided the thrust by 10, divided the ISP by 10, and multiplied the elec by 7.
  10. In addition to the other great info here, you should check out TAC Fuel Balancer. I wouldn't play KSP without it. Very easy, when you're hooked up to a fuel dump, to just set a few big tanks on the dump to "Out".
  11. Does this mean that the longitude line that points at Jupiter's center oscillates, but it averages out to the same place?
  12. First off, thank you for making the most essential KSP tool. Just got the latest version, made sure .NET was updated for Windows (I'm on 4.7). Still having a failure. NEVERMIND: Had to run "ckan update" on the command line
  13. Thank you for the answer. I meant to say "part config modification that even if you strip the BDAc part off the craft, it is no longer shareable to someone without BDAc." Or would it just throw exceptions/nullrefs? I'm sorry, I didn't mean to come off salty--I know you guys are working very hard and diligently on this project, and that integrating with stock parts is essential to having a more rational damage system. (Although I would have preferred the separate-part DCK Armor route, even though it's less granular.) (And I just went through all my mods--I'm going to be deleting a lot of cancer-causing MM configs.)
  14. Am I correct in my understanding that the Beta modifies stock parts with an armor resource? I don't install mods that modify stock parts, and I'm not going to bother maintaining a separate install just so I can play with BDA.
  15. Very nice work here. :D I'm not sure of the utility of a large comms tower on Minmus. Mun and Ike are tidally locked, so hitting a single chaser sat is much easier (and makes sense for farside bases). A pair of opposed polar sats would make more sense for Minmus.
  16. Heya Cupcake, Do you take musical suggestions? If nothing else, there may be some inspiration in these. Thank you for all the great stuff you do.
  17. That's very fair and understandable; I prefer to self-limit. I like the fact that KRPC is part-free, so you can share craft more easily. I have a lot of other thoughts on this, but this isn't the thread for it.
  18. I found this a while ago: https://github.com/aidygus/astar-rover Eventually, I'll steal it and recode it in a compilable language and run with KRPC. Why is anyone still using KOS? Is it just because it came out first? It's not any easier or less feature-complete. Plus you can code in a real-world language.
  19. If you have more than one electrical storage device, lock one of them. When the main runs out, unlock the emergency reserve and reorient the ship.
  20. My favorite fan theory about Event Horizon is that it takes place in the Warhammer 40k universe, and is mankind's first encounter with the forces of Chaos. Still my favorite Disney movie, if only for the mood and atmosphere.
  21. If you're going to go that far, you might as well do this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_Pluto and cruise around the atmosphere on wings
  22. Oh good, I'm useful! I watched the whole thing; it was great. I'd turn down the max AoA on the Hellblade, not the steer limiter. You could increase the AoA on the Lightning for sure. I use the CorrectCoL mod to help me judge what an appropriate AoA is. I generally put the limit at where the L/D ratio starts to decline from maximum, so it doesn't bleed too much speed during turns. Then I crank up the Steer Factor until the plane wobbles, and increase the Damper until the wobble stops. I find my planes tend to roll really hard and keep rolling, so I cut my roll surfaces down to 20-50%. What will limit you after tuning the AoA and Steer Factor is Max G.
