Nasted Kerman - TOD Y4, D171, 05:02:29 Engine on lander was destroyed upon touchdown on Duna. A rescue mission was launched, but the second lander touched down almost 20 km away. Nasted bravely attempted to use her EVA pack to traverse the distance, but ran out of fuel and crashed into the sand.

The village was quiet. Night had fallen, and all of the villagers were settling in for the night. One could occasionally spot a passing zombie or skeleton, but they paid no attention to the villagers. The only sounds were of the farm animals scattered throughout the village, wandering aimlessly. Stark mountain peaks rose above the horizon, obscuring the risen full moon. At the stroke of midnight, an unearthly sound made itself clearly known. It was accompanied by a bright surge of violet light streaming from a presently-materializing 5x4 rectangle of pure obsidian. The silhouette of a figure appeared in the midst of the purplish glow. It stumbled out and immediately collapsed in front of a growing crowd of confused and fearful villagers. "Chicken. Give him chicken," someone said. This was quickly done, and the strange visitor rose to his feet. "Greetings," he said. "My name is Steve."

I enjoy flying my quadcopter and am a member of my high school's FIRST Robotics team. I also play the piano.

Do you have a screenshot that makes you laugh every time?

Here you go. -
I didn't really know what to make for the Fan Works section for a long time, until: I got right to work, and came up with an intern's idea about a NERVA. (Hopefully it's not annoying to read; Kerbals are not exactly known for their grammar.)

It's finals week at my school. It actually isn't as bad as I had predicted. How did this occur?

Whenever I play that game, I put a ton of thermite on everything and ignite it. HAHAHA

I've been determined to master interplanetary travel and so decided to go to Duna again (the only planet I've successfully returned from). I set it up Apollo-style. Everything went relatively smoothly until I got into Dunatian orbit and started to worry about my fuel. I was pretty sure I wasn't going to be able to get back, but I continued with the mission anyway. After being amazed at the power of the new 10m heat shield, I performed a suicide burn a little too late and hit the ground at 8 m/s. Not a perfect landing, but it worked. After the flag-planting/waiting-for-launch-window routine, I took off from Duna and rendezvoused rather inefficiently with the mother ship. Transferring some remaining fuel from the lander into the service module got me some extra delta-V, but I was still worried about not having enough. Long story short, I ended up with about 300 m/s left after the trans-Kerbin injection, and realized just how much I overpower my rockets! I forgot to add a heat shield to the command module, so Jeb, Bob and Bill very nearly became fried during reentry. In the end though, they were recovered safely. I really need to start taking screenshots!

Is it true that most KSP players never go interplanetary?
livefree75 replied to KerikBalm's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I've crash-landed on Eve, Dres, Laythe, and Duna, and landed and returned from Duna twice. I'm currently working on a 3rd Duna land-and-return mission. (Started playing in May 2014) -
Obtaining Unobtainium... Unfolding space map... 42... Maxing out delta-v... Reversing the rocket equation... Roving...

Thanks! These are really interesting!

I've been wanting to build my own electrolyzer to produce hydrogen and oxygen, but I'm having difficulty choosing an electrolyte, and have seen many conflicting sources. What would be the best and most common electrolyte to use for this application?

Patcher doesn't seem to be working
livefree75 replied to livefree75's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
Ok. Thanks! -
I just tried using the official patcher tool to update my KSP install to 1.1.1, but it, well, didn't seem to have done anything. When I ran it, the patcher did its thing like it was supposed to, but on the menu screen of KSP and in the KSP.log, it still displays the version as 1.1.0. Am I using the patcher wrong?
