  1. I somewhat do this with stair railings. If I'm going up, I grab the railing and pull myself inward to accelerate myself, so I basically don't have to do any work with my legs climbing the first few steps.
  2. Welcome to the forums! I assume you're talking about a rocket/plane crash and not a game crash. You should be able to go back to the space center by pressing "Esc" and then "Space Center" in the popup window.
  3. Nice job! I've always wanted to learn Blender but found it to be very difficult.
  4. The grapplers/winches from the KAS mod might work. I agree, landing on Gilly is as slow as Mystery Goo in January!
  5. To land on all five of Jool's moons and return to Kerbin
  6. "The Juno spacecraft, after traveling en route to Jupiter for nearly five years, has unexpectedly powered down. Attempts to reestablish communications with the probe have been futile so far."
  7. Maybe an Armageddon-type scenario, only the movie ends with the asteroid harmlessly bouncing off Kerbin's surface ok maybe not
  8. I think there is already a thread dedicated to The Force Awakens, but... 1. The Supreme Leader (I think) was the leader of the First Order. As for his face, as J.J. Abrams. 2. Starkiller Base being the same size as Kerbin actually is interesting, when you think about it that way. Fan Theory: The First Order invaded the Kerbol System and built Starkiller Base out of Kerbin. After the base was transported to another location (obviously using a hyperdrive), the lack of heat reaching the planet caused it to freeze quickly. This theory would also explain why there is 9.81 m/s gravity at the surface of the planet despite its size and mass distribution. The only reason the trees are still standing is because they are frozen solid from the extreme cold/exposure to hyperspace.
  9. My eye doctor's also a musician. He told me that I 554 Hz.
  10. Nice! I can only imagine how many boosters it would have taken to get that asteroid there...
  11. I read that in English class; it's called "If I Forget Thee, O Earth..." It is a really good story.
  12. After I got the demo version, it too me a day or two (and tutorials) to learn how to get into orbit. Once I did, I kept launching myself into orbit over and over again because I was so proud of myself. (Later I found out that I could do a gravity turn at a 90 degree heading; all of my previous orbits were polar.) I wanted MOAR BOOSTERS and to go to MOAR PLACES and to have the ability to dock, so I bought the full version.
  13. Some pictures of one of your crafts and/or the specifications of your computer would help a lot. Normally, you don't need a TON of struts, just enough to hold the craft together. If you are only putting the bare minimum of struts currently, your ship will probably lag almost as much without them. You also might want to consider executing your mission with multiple launches, putting the vessel together in orbit. This will eliminate most of the need for stability during launch, and you won't have to build a huge rocket, just a few (relatively) small ones. You might still have some problems with lag in space, but it won't be as problematic as lag normally is in the atmosphere/during launch and ascent. I hope this helps, and again, some images and computer specs would be very useful. P.S. Happy holidays! P.P.S. Welcome to the forums!
  14. I sent a spacecraft to Duna to scan for resources... twice. After getting the thing into LKO, doing the Hohmann transfer, orbital insertion, and the works, I opened the scanner, and: "Cannot operate scanner; no comms device on this vessel." I went back to the VAB, added an antenna, and performed the mission all over again. Although it was more than a little annoying, it's those little things that feed my interest in KSP.

    SSTV

Hmmm... It seems to work fine on my phone and computer, even when I'm not signed in. I tried switching from a Google URL to an Imgur one, hopefully it works. Here's another try. Does it work?

    SSTV

I just discovered SSTV (Slow Scan Television) and have been playing around with it. I encoded and decoded a screenshot: And the Duna SSTV signal:
  17. I recently tried to mine some ore from an asteroid, and had two small drills and a small ISRU unit, but no ore tanks. When I started harvesting ore, the drills were definitely getting ore, but the Convert-A-Tron acted like it had no ore to process. Does this mean ore tanks are required to convert it to fuel? Sorry I don't have any pictures.
  18. I had quite an adventure today... (sorry, no pics) I saw that a C-class asteroid was heading for a Kerbin periapsis of 15km, so I decided to try my first ARM. I built a gigantic launcher with MOAR BOOSTERZ and managed to intercept the space rock a day or so before periapsis. I attached the ship to the asteroid and burned radial to get the periapsis to 50km. My plan was to skim through the atmosphere to bring the apoapsis down to something less than a hyperbolic trajectory, then make a small burn at apoapsis to put the asteroid on a stable orbit. All was going well until about halfway through the reentry. To my horror, with full SAS applied, the entire thing rotated until the vessel was facing the airstream, unprotected by the giant rock. It exploded, and so did the asteroid (somehow). The craft was unmanned, so no Kerbals were lost.
  19. The Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter spotted the crater formed by the Apollo 16 SIVB booster on impact, after several years of searching. http://www.nasa.gov/image-feature/goddard/lro-finds-apollo-16-booster-rocket-impact-site
  20. I use mechjeb for learning how to do stuff. When I first started playing a year and a half ago, I made MechJeb do 75% of everything. But by watching how the autopilot did things (and reading a tutorial or two) I learned to do those things myself.
  21. Interesting. How do you get those images of the rockets?
  22. I have some experience writing newspaper articles. It would be really cool to see this thing take off... literally!
  23. When you read The Martian and think "Jeb would do that" every third page.
  24. Granted. They say, "Hey let's test a nuke and see how other countries react!" I wish that I was more social.
