If you want realism, RealISRU as mentioned by Svm420 is your best bet. If you just want KSP's cartoony version to work with RF, you can write MM patches to do what you want.

Mechjeb is installed, but I checked multiple times for it being active in any way. The issue also occurred on ships built without mechjeb in the first place.
-
It is definitely interesting, I had previously tested with RealHeat only and always barely survived, with anything between 0 and 5 units of ablator left. Did you test with FAR? Edit: Huh, the latest version of FAR behaves quite differently (0 Ablator lost vs burning up at ~7km/s). Will test on a clean install next. Alright, on a clean install with your patches and the latest FAR everything works nicely, anything between 400 and 200 units of ablator left on a minmus reentry. Interplanetary might be a little harder, who knows.

Hm. I had a MK1-2 Pod burn up several times during a 8km/s 40km pe reentry last night. The heatshields were definitely patched, so I am guessing the physics patch was applied too... Will test more today.
-
I am also seeing this, quite excessively as well. Control of certain ships becomes absolutely impossible as soon as the bug is triggered - which is usually by the use of the flight computer. Will try to look for causes tomorrow.
-
Will try to test a little when I get to playing - this is meant to be used standalone, right? Meaning without RealHeat and related mods.
-
Ah, I see. Should have taken a closer look at that graphic in the OP Nice solution.

That is a great suggestion and working splendidly. Now the only tanks left are from NFP. I already made something some time ago that is playable, but it is kind of a sloppy job and probably not that suited for inclusion into RF at this point. Using ModuleFuelTanks should at least ensure balance with regards to dV, but there are big differences in volumes between NFP argon and xenon and RF procedural parts tanks of equal dimensions.
-
Niice. Because it seemed to me that using a central mass for your barycenter that planets orbit around would lead to planets orbiting the barycenter further away having a lower orbital velocity, as opposed to this. If you solved that my understanding must have been incorrect somewhere, which is good because binaries are awesome
-
Great work, as expected! I had no chance to test yet, but I wonder: Do the orbital speeds really work out (as in: the line between M1 and M2 always goes through the barycenter)?

Are you sure there is no other mod modifying the RT settings?

Hi, I would like to make the Near Future Propulsion and Construction tanks RF compatible and need some advice on how to do this properly. NFP tanks are balanced against stock, so some significant changes to volumes and dry masses are needed. I thought about using the BalloonCryo tank type for the Hydrogen tanks and the ElectricPropulsion tank type for Argon/Xenon tanks, that should at least ensure mass ratios that are in line with procedural parts. If the mass ratios are fine, getting the volume exactly right would not be absolutely crucial, so a very simple method would be attempting to balance against PP tanks of similar dimensions. Near future construction (RF has configs for those, but they are very outdated) is problematic: It's tanks use interstellar fuel switch to change their appearance and content, and while that would be fine for tanks that do not necessarily need to be able to hold different fuels, some (eg. servicemodule, "liquid fuel") should really get a ModuleFuelTanks - which IFS does not support currently. Options I see here are: Ditching tanks that need to hold varied fuels and keep using IFS with the rest or ditching IFS and creating separate part.cfgs - giving all the customization but cluttering the part catalog. Oh, and I have no idea how to go on about doing #2. Suggestions, feedback and ideas greatly appreciated.

Stockalike RF Engine Configs v3.2.6 [01/20/19][RF v12]
Tellion replied to Raptor831's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
PR is out. Regarding the Near Future Spacecraft tanks, it is a rather small issue and should not impart gameplay all too much. The NFP and NFC tanks need revisions too, but I will have to ask for advice in the RF thread before working on those. -
Stockalike RF Engine Configs v3.2.6 [01/20/19][RF v12]
Tellion replied to Raptor831's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Alright, will cook up a satisfactory MM patch for those tanks and PR to RealFuels. So much to do with regards to tanks and NF* anyways, and no idea how to do it properly ._. Yeah, it is just density. Will test what I have and PR to you later today. I think Isp is good as it is, but you have a good point about masses being debatable... Thrust is obviously way, way over the top, but until we have a solution for using ultra low thrust engines during on rails timewarp (with relative heading, preferably), we are somewhat forced to keep it this way for gameplay reasons, imo. If we choose to do some proper modifications to NFP engines later on, we can always try to steal from the RO crowd too, I think they have NFP configs -

That was very interesting to read, but he might have wondered how they want to deal with the boiloff. Or in any case, I wonder that -
Stockalike RF Engine Configs v3.2.6 [01/20/19][RF v12]
Tellion replied to Raptor831's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Raptor, while writing stockalike configs for the latest NF Spacecraft, I noticed that it adds two tanks that have LF, Oxidizer and Monopropellant - the Fuel_Conversions.cfg does not catch that fully. As sending a pull request to RealFuels just for this does not seem warranted to me, is it possible to modify it in such a way that it could deal with a case like this, or would you rather have players use custom patches to handle it? Another thing I wanted to ask you is whether you think that configs for NFP engines should be integrated in RFStockalike. We talked about this way back in 2014, but many things have changed since. NFP and RF both rely on the CRP now, Argon and LH2 using engines are fine by default - Xenon using engines do, however, get messed up by RF adjusting Xenon's density. Including a quick fix for those engines here would enable players to use NFP engines out of the box. -
[1.0.5] Atomic Age - Nuclear Propulsion - Red Hot Radiators
Tellion replied to Porkjet's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
As I recall, it was just a little radiator fin that would do the job. I don't even know if it required power, but it helped a ton with using LH2 fuel. -

RealFuels did some time ago offer the possibility of actively cooling tanks, but it seems to have disappeared ._. -

Resolution correlates with amount of memory used. -
"Didn't work" helps little in diagnosing the issue... Follow this thread and people will actually be able to find out where the problem lies - or, equally likely, you will yourself.
