Ok, I think I can see the source of my confusion now. When KAL 9000 said that he'd upload soon, I assumed that the mission to dock their module was already flown, but it seems that might not be the case. As I already docked my module last night and have the gamesave, I'll upload this to Dropbox in the next few minutes and post the link here, unless anyone has any objections.

That sounds fine to me. It'll be a few hours before I launch however, as I head to work in 30 minutes.

Oops... just noticed your post. So I'm guessing that the module I just docked will be with an out of date version of the station now. I also sent up a science lab, but with some lighting. Actually I'm confused now, as the thread says that your post is 5 hours old, but I downloaded the save file only 2 hours ago, so things are getting a bit of of sync I think.

Completed the flight of the "bug" as an entry to the Space Station of Coolness challenge. A few pics of the highlights. Leaving Kerbin Orbiting Mun first time around Orbiting Duna Spacewalking Orbiting Minmus 1st time around In orbit of Kerbin before a surprise encounter and return to the surface. Hi Eve Party Boat

space station of coolness!
purpleivan replied to llamatron's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
I'm submitting this entry in what I call the "Super Hard Plus" category, which is the following. Put a station into Mun orbit, then Duna orbit, Minmus orbit, Mun orbit again, Kerbin orbit, Minmus orbit again and finally Kerbin orbit again, with a visit to ship that was in low Kerbin orbit for a completely different challenge (Mun Rocked). I made a big screwup in the building of the station in that I forgot a critical detachment ring, which meant some wasteful fuel usage and having to manually transfer the fuel around instead of the rather intricate fuel line arrangement doing its intended job. Still, it did a good job and even came back with a bunch of fuel to spare. So here it is... the journey of the "bug". -
What is the most furtherest planet you have got to?
purpleivan replied to KerbalScience's topic in KSP1 Discussion
Same here. Plus I flew out to 810,536,185,074,499m (about 7.5x the orbit of Eeloo) during an attempt at a highest speed in Kerbol orbit challenge. Even on max warp waiting for that took forever. -

I especially like "stuck". It's the manual that makes it.

I'd probably have to agree with you. I'm actually having a go at this right now (on Super Hard) and I'd be hard pressed to say what separates what I'm using to fly around in from any other spacecraft, other than it accomodating more Kerbals than I'm used to carrying for a challenge. Although I did put a few sensors and and antenna on it to make it more "stationy" -
One with everything

I have an entry to submit to the challenge that I think (I really hope!) meets the challenge rules. The flight of the OW1 (One With 1). So this was a trip from Kerbin to the Mun surface, then Duna surface, Minmus surface and finally back to a splashdown on Kerbin. The vehicle had a total of 54 parts, which would have been quite a bit higher if I'd read the challenge rules properly (I didn't see that you scored for the number of parts per milestone). If I had read them properly I would have loaded up with sensors, lights etc. (any super light weight stuff) to boost my points score. There were a few hiccups along the way. - Forgot to remove oxidiser from some of the small tanks, so was dragging that dead mass around until I left them behind on the Duna surface - Forgot to test if my chutes for the Duna landing were balanced (they weren't) so had to cut one of them immediately after deployment, so a little more dead mass - For good measure I didn't actually need the heat shield on the capsule as the batteries and ion drive protected it in re-entry, so could have lost that as well Points Tally For this I removed two of the parts from the calculation for the Minmus and Kerbin landings as they (a couple of unprotected solar panels) were ripped off when aero-braking on my return to the Kerbin system. Please check my calculation in case I've misunderstood anything. It's a bit higher than the other entries, so I'm suspecting I slipped up somewhere. Does not explode on launchpad: 10 pts.+54 parts Lifts off successfully: 15 pts. +54 parts Suborbital trajectory: 30 pts. +54 parts Orbit: 50 pts. +44 parts Return one Kerbal to Kerbin safely: 50 pts. +12 parts Return all command pods (including the command chair, not including any probe core.)(They don't have to be crewed) to Kerbin safely: 70 pts +12 parts Mun fly-by: 100 pts. +44 parts Mun orbit: 125 pts. +38 parts Mun landing: 175 pts. +38 parts Minmus landing: 150 pts. +12 parts Solar orbit: 100 pts. +38 parts Duna fly-by: 150 pts. +38 parts Duna orbit: 175 pts. +38 parts Duna landing: 225 pts. +38 parts Return from Duna system to safe Kerbin landing: 75 pts. +12 parts For a total points tally of 2026 -
space station of coolness!

I might be an idea if the specification of a "station" was tighter. For example do the seated kerbals have to be inside the station, as seated could be interpreted as including command seats. In some ways this is similar to the One With Everything challenge that I've just completed (uploading pics of it to Imgur right now) but with orbital stations instead of landings. -
I like it, although I'm half expecting the letters of ALIEN to appear one at a time (not a bad thing). It's similar to what I made as a title image for my bit of fan fiction. I need to stop thinking about more things to do as KSP fan-art, as it just occurred to me that I could make KSP versions of a whole bunch of movie posters (not just space ones either)... that madness will not end soon if I do give it a go

It's the challenge in which you can only use one of any part. I'm hoping that this jalopy will take Jeb from Mun to Duna then Ike and back to Kerbin again (riding on a single ion engine for Ike landing and the return).

Just noticed this challenge and think I'm going to take a crack at it. It's certainly a bit different to usual lightest/fastest/most kerbals type of challenges. -
There's also the challenge Ions, Ions Everywhere which you must have missed (currently it's on page 3 of the challenges thread so easily done) that includes a manned (which would be harder) trip to Eeloo as one of its challenges and requires a return to Kerbin.

Show Off Your Pics, Drawings & More! ~ KSA Fan Works
purpleivan replied to Eveeloo's topic in KSP Fan Works
I'd have to agree with Kuzzter, especially as there is the longstanding sticky thread KSP Fan-Art MkII. Good to see another face on here that is interested in KSP fan art though. -
At some point I plan to write a behind the scenes "the making of" 2001:ASA as I already have a few fun pics I grabbed in the sets I built, although I'm also starting to think about a 2010 story now The "Keonov" sounds good to me Thanks.

Nice It was a bit of a surprise when I saw the thread at the top of the Fan Works listing.

Talking of April 1st, is the cat with a rainbow trail bouncing across the bottom of the loading screen a new thing for April 1st, or is it that I've never fired up the game on that date before and it's a known thing.

Ah docking... great fun, especially parking a large vehicle and it's a tight squeeze. This was the first docking I did, with a crew vehicle sent up to my first space station. Back in the distant past, when I didn't know how to hide the HUD.
