After a few months away from the game, I made a new image based on a screenshot, in this case the old "Mun of Bust" front-end of the game.

messing with the old control tower
purpleivan replied to The solid fuel chemist's topic in KSP1 Challenges & Mission ideas
Here's my entry for this challenge. A total of 18 kerbals in the tower, not that big a number really, but I did land them on the roof -
After a few months away from working on my wallpapers I decided to make a new one this weekend. This is a reworked version of the old front-end of the game. And for the full "in-game" feel, here it is with the front-end text.

I just noticed Norcalplanner's "Herkules" from the Mun Rocked challenge, so thought I'd add my entry for that here, in the entirely fictional category of "largest orange lump landed on Mun".

1300 hours after the first 300 days or so... it was like I had a 2nd job

This is the first cinematic I made in KSP and it's fairly mellow. It's got a bunch of issues and is often too dark, but the intention was mainly to get used to using various camera related mods in the game.

[1.1.2][1-1-2] May 13-2016 EnvironmentalVisualEnhancements
purpleivan replied to rbray89's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Switching to the version you made available yesterday evening seems to have solved my dark z-fighting issue. Half an hour in the game, flying vehicles, switching in and out of buildings and no sign of the issue. Thanks rbray89. -
I think this should be an easy enough fix... I have an idea on how to fix it.
Here's the output log from my last load (using most recent EVE build) BTW... the behaviour disappeared on return to KSC after after switching to there from Mun orbit. -
[1.1.2][1-1-2] May 13-2016 EnvironmentalVisualEnhancements
purpleivan replied to rbray89's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
A quick update. With the previous couple of reloads of the game this evening I found that both the Space Center and VAB views had the dark Z-fighting issues, but on the load I have running now, only the Space Center and not the VAB has that behavour, even after switching between them a few times. -
On Linux/x64 does not seem to work. Shadows are totally messed up in VAB and launchpad, like this: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-nNVjJC7UXbc/Vkrf0wODukI/AAAAAAAACKo/o06Kcozg-tU/s800-Ic42/screenshot59.png https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-WJXhxpxXcY0/Vkrf0rpUrpI/AAAAAAAACKk/-UtSXX8kZ1U/s800-Ic42/screenshot62.png (second picture is dark because it's early morning, but weird triangular hatching is noticeable). Here are the logs: https://www.dropbox.com/s/tq97qxpl7vnny2g/logs.zip?dl=0
I have what seems like identical behaviour here, but in Windows not Linux. This started as a problem that would occur after a period of time (30 minutes to an hour) after launching the game and would sometime disappear after entering one of the buildings at KSC. However it now appears to be permanent from startup onwards. This occured with both the build I downloaded on November 15th and the latest build -
[0.25] Astronomer's Visual Pack - Interstellar V2
purpleivan replied to Astronomer's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I've been using EVE and Astronomer's pack for some time now, but after installing 1.0.5 I decided to try out the lens flare sourced from here. The installation appears to be straightforward (put the sharedassets10.assets file in the KSP_Data folder), but having done that I still have the stock lens flare. Have I missed something? -

Don't forget Kerby Krisps, those delicious pocket of crunchy goodness in their shiny purple wrappers. What else does a growing kerbonaut need. Tales From Near and Far. -
A pair of my Gemini(ish) vehicles docking in Earth orbit in RSS.

Indeed it does (Leaderboard updated with you in the number one spot).

Congratulations... the beast is down If you want to check the mass, load a save focused on the lander and click the "i" info button in the map view. You'll get some basic information on the vehicle including the mass.

I'll give this a try... thanks. -
[WIP][1.0.5]* RSS Visual Enhancements (RVE)
purpleivan replied to pingopete's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
I'm afraid launching something then switch to my orbiting vehicle isn't working for me. I sent an unmanned vehicle straight up and switched from it at 150km to my orbiting vehicle, but the rendering of the earth was still incorrect. It's basically an inversion of my previous problem, in that the area of the globe outside what appears to be a distance threshold is now rendering correctly and that inside it isn't. Incidentally I'm not certain if the terrain around KSC is appearing as expected. Congrats on the Venus flyby by the way... looking forward to doing that kind of thing myself once I get these graphical glitches out of the way. - - - Updated - - - I've just done some quick testing and the behaviour of the graphical issue is a bit strange in that it only seems to affect a region of the globe, but that region drifts eastward as I orbit. By warping I was able to push the area affected from Africa to to India in a few orbits. When the distance threshold from the vehicle encounters the edge of the affected region it is clipped by it. -
[WIP][1.0.5]* RSS Visual Enhancements (RVE)
purpleivan replied to pingopete's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
Ok I'll try that. I did notice that the instructions on Github said "Using the TrackingStation to switch to vessels in orbit will cause problems." and wondered if that was the issue. -
[WIP][1.0.5]* RSS Visual Enhancements (RVE)
purpleivan replied to pingopete's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
I made the change to the Win32 branch and was about to claim victory (it looked great) but then I went back to the Space Center, then to my ship in orbit and it look like this. My installation process was to remove the folders from the previous (incorrect) master build install, then I followed the instructions on the page https://github.com/Pingopete/RVE-KSP-1.0.4/tree/Win32. Any suggestions much appreciated. -
A nice and (relatively) simple entry which gets you the number 2 spot on the leaderboard. A shame about the two engines but accidents will happen... especially when landing things this size

[WIP][1.0.5]* RSS Visual Enhancements (RVE)
purpleivan replied to pingopete's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
Yes I did follow the Readme.txt that came in the RVE-KSP-1.0.4-master.zip package. As stated the install was vanilla (i.e. no BoulderCo folder) before installing RSS/RO/RVE. -
[WIP][1.0.5]* RSS Visual Enhancements (RVE)
purpleivan replied to pingopete's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
I've just started using RSS/RO/RVE and am having an issue with RVE. At launch (after hitting Apply in the Alt-E GUI) everything is fine and stays so through launch and in orbit. However on any scene change (F9 load, going to and from the Space Center etc.) the view from my vehicle in orbit is wrong (see below). All signs of any kind of atmosphere are missing and the what looks like a distance based area of he planet below is grey in the ocean areas. The build I'm running is vanilla, plus the following. Running in OpenGL Realism Overhaul installed via CKAN Real Solar System installed via CKAN Planetshine If anyone has experienced a similar issue and has insight into this, some info would be appreciated. Additionally is the expected behaviour of RVE that settings have to be applied through the Alt-E GUI for each launch?
