  1. Hi, multiple games are allready a thing. but im only dipping my feet in a bit atm. The idea is to introduce game admins who are well rooted in that games community. So i get direct feedback of their needs and problems. (everyone can volunteer and suggest a game) There will be more game specific feaures in the future (like ckan is for KSP) and because the site has its origin in ksp (like curse has in minecraft) i wont cut back on any ksp related function but instead expand them. As i posted earlier we succsessfully tested a mariadb clustering port of the software and will roll that out on our next major update. The idea to support multiple games came partly because most of the servers are bored to death. The pre1.1 rush didnt even use 1% of the available bandwidth. p.s. dev is what it says on the tin: pre alpha so expect it to be broken, missing stuff and not ready (i posted a concept screen some pages back if you want to get an idea on what the final product might look like)
  2. yes you can see a preview of this darkslideshow on dev.spacedock.info i can also tell you that im working on mor sophisticated means of picking featured mods than my love for multiplayer ksp regarding prerelases. the current dev ver has an additional game version flag called "beta" which will make its way into production with the next major update.

  4. We just did some succsessfull testing on clustering the sites db in a test enviroment. The next major update (which will still be a while) will include the Site (not only the downloads) to be on the cdn to speed it up and make it more fault tollerant.
  5. Hi, the reason spacedock doesnt host crafts is beecause i dont want to fish in the same pond as kerbalx does. So we agreed on him hosting crafts and us hosting mods. We are in constant comunication. So if one of us needs something the other will help out. I know some want to hate Spacedock simply because its the big site. You dont have to see us as bad thing to have an excuse to offer your own service. As i said plenty of times: Go teach me where i was mistaken or what i could have done better and i will thank you for it In fact i realy like the Design you came up with. I hope youll manage to get the loading times down and mobile support implemented. Im ready to offer you the same as i offered GameModHub and KerbalX: if you need help with IT related issues ask me in our IRC channel. One area isnt covvered yet: a parts db for ksp. Do that instead of mods and i would use it instantly. (and it would help CKAN, Kerbalx and Spacedock)
  6. i might add: oure pre alpha version is on dev.spacedock.info it doesnt work all the time and is subject to change but you can see what were working on. in addition to that beta.spacedock.info is oure staging enviroment to iron out the last bugs before going into production. As mentioned before we are shorthanded and need every coder, gfx person or html/css guy whos willing to help.
  7. some images have bad source files but i also should make multiple templates. the images resizes depending on the screen size so on large monitors it gets resized quite a bit.
  8. since im redoing the startpage atm its possiblre to have the mod count included for everyone. loading times: is it slower than say 2 weeks ago? personaly i think 1.5s is a long time
  9. Question: how long does it take you to fully load http://spacedock.info/kerbal-space-program ? (use your browser dev tools to messure it if possible) MY analytics say the site has gotten slower for users.
  10. We are getting DOSed working on it should be solved in a few. UPDATE: We blocked that persons ip and are deploying messures to prevent this in the future. Sorry for any downtime

  12. for mod names i will (somehow my reply to Cetra didnt get posted) will be a while till its on production.

  14. Links and other things reley on the mod name. i recomend deleting it and adding it again.
  15. My thought was that it is a waste of space taking up nearly the entires page. You can still see the mod count when youre logged in: "Browse x more Mods"

Regarding server load: Spacedock is running on its own CDN comprising of 10 Servers with a combined max bandwith of over 250 Gbit/s I challenge everyone to even come close to using that amound of bandwidth. (could even be that curses setup is smaller then SpaceDocks) Also thanks to all the Donators for makeing that possible (and especialy to GenPage for donating Servers to the mix) Regarding The multigame thing: im not playing KSP exclusivly. So isnt it wired that i spend my time making the best mod hosting site i could think of and then go on some crapy site to download mods for some none KSP game? Ofcause im offering SpaceDock to other game communities. Especialy because im not worried about the servers (see above). And yes i hope the increase in usage will propotional to the increase in donators. Regarding the name Kerbalstuff: When we made SpaceDock i asked @SirCmpwn if we are allowed to take over the design and the name and he i didnt allow that. So: Name rights for Kerbelstuff are with him and youre simply not allowed to call your name "KerbalStuff" or use its design. SpaceDock Design: see above Regarding data and templates: I simply cant support and maintain more than one design but im thinking about adding color schemes to the site you can pick. IF you hate it compleatly: there is an api and you can write a desktop app...like CKAN? ------------------------------ If someone wants to making a better site a try they should be allowed to and im ready to learn from them. If you want to get more facts about SpaceDock or have any request/question please just join the chat or at least take it to the spacedock thread and dont fill this thread with SpaceDock related suff.   18. We arent changinging anything to the site for now (except those realy nasty showstopping bugs) But im working on the next version allready. Features (hopfully) included will be: LIst view option for browse mods Sorting and filtering of mods More advanced and easier to use search Tags for mods (no categorys) Sub pages for chat, mumble and other stuff (with explanations) rework of the mainmenu (to be easier to find and fixed in mobile) new footer (that showes donation amount) rating of mods (but no direct comments) expanding the insite blogging system (to be more usefull) attaching of videos to mods by users (e.g. for mod reviews, lets plays,...) overhaul of the startpage (to show more usefulls tuff in the blank spots) rework of the image upload system (to help mod authors to get their thumbnails and banners just right) moving of the site logic itself to the cdn (atm only the downloads ar elocated on multiple servers) showing when a file is virus scaned support form FAQ (for the support form) performance opimazations integration of dmp multiplayer serverlist int the site admin page overhaul addition of "game admin" type integration of websockets and notifications (for updates while on the site) addition of a admin boradcast function (to show warnings to ppl before doing maintenance and so on) As you can see quite a list for two persons

If you have any problems with the site: Post a screenshot of your whole browser screen here or on github Post the full url too If downloads dont work please post your geographic location and the link to the file you wish to download We need those informations to fix it. explanation: we dont know where it happened if we dont have the url we dont know what happened if we only get a part of the browser screen Depending on your location the site serves files you request from different servers so we need your location to identify the server thats acting up.

  21. the flip thing is removed. the page looks so empty because most features planed arent there yet. i made a color pallet for the page so i could change the dl button color.
  22. imm for that after changing the flip thing to a simple hover show thing i wont change anything on the production server i think the current version is stable, bug free(?) and usable enough to leave it alone for a while. So i wont add any new functions in the coming week or more and instead ask everyone to check http://beta.spacedock.info from time to time to find bugs and give opinions on new features. @AlphaAsh is right. we where so surpirsed by the showstoping bugs emerging from the new version (especialy because we realy tried to test the heck out of it) that we headlessly ran in there trying to fix them. We thought its better to fix stuff like "not beeing able to post updates for mods" asap than having it not function for as long as it would take to build and test a new version of the code. I guess we where wrong. I also want to make the point that the new design has nothing to do with the stability issues and bugs but its: 1.) my wish to add multigame support 2.) attempts to make the code run faster and more efficient (we dont want to buy ourselves out with larger servers like KS did) 3.) a monitoring script going berserk (it was restarting the site over and over for a day and we didnt notice) 4.) the increased visitor count as result of pre1.1 (atm files are clustered but the site itself isnt) so im ready to take blame for poor decissions on my part. But i hope it channels into more people helping out in commiting code to the project. Darklight and i simply arent the experts in python (im certenly am not) and were forced to use it because thats what the site is written in. P.S. i know about a lot of problems (e.g. mobile menu) but my day only has 24h so i simply cant write enough good code to fix them all asap.
