  1. about the flipping ill do exactly what youre pruposing but without fade to have the "noc click" time as low as possible. about the loading times: i added some caching to the webserver and then found out it would mess with sessions so we disabled everything yesterday. Now we are testing the best settings on beta until we find a good set. shouldnt be long.
  2. would a simple swap content effect be ok? so just hide the image and show the text. ive to put the description somewhere. the only alternative would be tooltips.
  3. i might ave gone a bit overboard with the flip effect the 404 comes when you click the mod or the actual download button?
  4. hmm yes i know its hard to determine how the header and thumbnails will look like. i want to offer seperate uplaods for thumbnails so you can adjust it to the aspect ratio. But ill think about it when im about to implement it. Regarding downtimes: we had some mishabs in the past days and im very sorry about that. When i set up the site it was a real rush and some decissions that where made at the time just came back to bite us. What ive been working on is to transition the initial hot needel setup into something sustainable. For the amoutn of changes we made to the backend we had in fact very littel problems and downtimes. Just think about the introduction of the CDN. Nearly noone has even noticed that the site went from one to several servers which are using Geo Loadbalancing and so on. I wouldnt call such a setup and the transition amateurish. But i understand you just want the old days back. But those also resultit in a burnd out admin and the site suddenly shutting down. So please trust me that im not just playing arround. Regarding coding: at the moment its only darklight and me coding on the site and we could realy realy use more python coders.
  5. Thats your opinion and i know i cant please eaveryones tastebuts We inherited a code base that needs some maintenance. If you arent happy i welcome you to join the team and leave your mark. Im sure you know that even intense testing doesnt find all the bugs so im sorry that this one slipped trough. BTW We advertised the beta site beforehand and asked everyone to find bugs. In what relation do you think SpaceDock is like curse?

  7. was a caching issue on the server with sessions. should be fixed darklight also burned some midnight oil fixing mod updates. and i integrated the short description if you hover over the thumbnails.
  8. @Svm420 as i stated early: i will add table AND grid view so you can decide. I also just added a mouse over trgger that shows a short description of the mod to the repo. @Bonus Eventus Sounds like i could use your help. We have our own CDN (see previous posts for map of server locations) Im strictly against third party services since they dont do it for free (they want at least collect user data) and they can stop or change their services at any given time. I inherited much of the code and its based on bootstrap wich i find to be unflexible and massive. So i will have to redo the themes at some point but i fear the mountain of work and bugs. i also want to integrate more ajax so that it stops reloading all page each time you click something (and cause more http requests). ....also json is slimer than transfering html for each mod box. for now im still on the bug hunt and pretty exausted from the past weeks rework of the site.
  9. hi i noticed some deep rooted problem with how version numbers are handled by the code and db. we are working on a fix but it will take some time sorry for that. btw it only applies to mod updates not to new mods and i have allready commited a fix for the version list issue but not for the error 500 issue.
  10. thank you for thos suggestions. 1. what would be the reason for not hosting imiges myself? 2. descriptions will be added back in again (soon) 3. i can implement seperate thumbnail uploads 4. if you go back several pages youll find a screen for the site that has a slideshow on top. im split if thats the way to go or not. 5. the browse page will be endless scrolling with sort capability and grid/table mode 6. why modals ? 7. form my point of view the current theme code is a mess. ive to decide if i want to rewrite it or stick with the current mess...you know wich one ill choose sooner or later. bonus: you know how caotic your screen looks? i think letting ppl choose their own thumbnail dimensions is a no go.
  11. regarding caps: the font i use only has caps ...sorry regarding bootstrap: yes it does and i hate it. maybe i will redo the templates from scratch.
  12. ill take a small break and then get to work fixing and adding to the beta env. We will keep the beta enviroment as permanent installation. so you can check out the latest features and fixes and give us feedback. dev now works like it should: local dev env. -> dev.spacedock.info -> beta.spacedock.info -> spacedock.info beta should always be aspected to be stable so if its not shout at us. dev can have bugs but shouldnt have them for long
  13. im aware that the mobile view isnt uhm perfect i fixed it but that fix seems to gone missing ill resubmit that as soon as possible btw you manged to get ksp running on a smartphone?!
  14. We switch now some downtime expected. should be fast. the beta will stay up so we can let you test future improvements.
  15. it uses a copy of the db and files so it should be fully functional. so dont be afraid to wrek it
  16. yes i know there some work left for mobile versions. the major feature apart from the design is the ability to host mods for multiple games. but all the ksp specific features are still there and you can simply adjust your bookmarks to the subsite.

  18. i plan on ditching the dark theme anyways. i dont have the time to maintain it. i will give the new code another try after fixing the bugs that came up.
